This next trend is going to totally shock you: Sunny orange for summer!
Surprising, right? Well, okay, maybe not. But the hue is still fresh and feminine, so it totally took over the runways for the Spring/Summer 2011 collections. And I’m loving it. The minimalistic color palette is so last season. It’s time to get back to bold again.
If you’re looking to punch up your summer wardrobe, then paint your closet orange, or, y’know, just add a few key pieces. Here are my picks for splashing your look with a dose of statement color. You’d be wise to snap them up! (Not that I’m biased about my own selections or anything, though. Obviously.)
The Wedge Sandal. Why not choose an orange wedge? From cut-offs and a white tank to a Little White Dress, this heel will give you a lot of options. Minimal accessories are needed when you’ve got a standout shoe, just let your sweet wedges speak for themselves. Super chic!
The Dress. If you’re feeling particularly daring, step out in a dress drenched in orange. If you choose a solid frock, you could show your savvy sartorial skills and color block with a magenta bag and sleek heels in black. Or, keep things streamlined with neutral accessories and simple drop earrings. Both awesome options… but the dress is a must.
The Shorts. I’m a big proponent of colored shorts, because they’re just so easy. Take a breezy white tee or tank and throw it on with a pair of orange cut-offs. Add in aviator shades, gladiator sandals and a cross-body bag and you’re good to go with an effortlessly cool ensemble. It’s a no-brainer!
The Necklace. I believe every girl should own several statement necklaces. A great turquoise-colored piece and a fab coral-hued item are the places to start. But, we’re talkin’ orange here! So, here’s how I’d work in a statement necklace: Try shorts, a blazer and a fringed bag, or dress it up with a color-blocked frock in bright green or hot pink. Whether casual or formal, the piece works both ways!
The Sunglasses. For everyday, a gal’s gotta have a bold pair of shades. Orange wayfarers are basically a small obsession of mine, but square lenses are also a perfect, more sophisticated alternative. Wear with… just about anything. This one’s totally up to you, kids.
