Blogger Style: An Education on Trends

Hey y’all! Welcome back to the reality of the work week. I know, I know. I am going to miss the long weekend, too. But I have good news: it’s Blogger Tuesday! So dry those sad, tear-filled eyes (I kid… you’re fine) and get ready for a little real-girl style school.

Meet Jessica, today’s bloggerista icon. She’s a curvy, fashion-forward gal from Australia, who has tons of awesome tips for changin’ up outfits and finding your very own style, no matter your size, on her blog, Too Many Sequins. Here, she shows us how to work multiple trends into one outfit without overdoing it. Check out her look here, then hop on over to her blog for more.

Mixed prints. I’m a big fan of mixed prints for the spring and summer, but this is a trend that can go awry if you don’t think a little bit about what you’re doing (that’s just a fact, ladies!). Here, Jessica does the trend perfectly by choosing two tiny patterns. The little print on her shirt paired with the small print on her bag doesn’t overwhelm, but still looks fun and playful, just as it should be!

The midi skirt. I have to confess: I’ve been avoiding the midi skirt for a while now. It’s a huge trend this season, but I’m not a real skirt gal. I’m more of a shorts-and-denim-shirt gal. So, I’m still trying to ease my way into maxi lengths! But Jessica’s take on the midi makes me want to rethink my avoidance. Midi skirts can get into dowdy territory if you’re not careful. Like Jessica, make sure your skirt is paired with tall heels and is dyed a pretty color for a look that’s anything but too old-fashioned.

Color-blocking. As long as you’re working with solid colors, throw caution to the wind this season and make up some cool hue-combos. Jessica’s peach and blue is unexpected and fun, while not screaming, “Too much!” Other great color combinations to try out? An orange with a magenta, an aqua and a bright green, or even keep is classic with white and any other shade you choose. All fabulous!

All right, kiddos. Next time you’re in desperate need of a trend how-to guide, refer to this post. In the meantime, check out Too Many Sequins. Until tomorrow…
