Happy Blogger Tuesday, readers! Today, I bring you pure and beautiful coincidence. Or just fate. Fashionable fate.
Meet Megan! She’s the lovely lady behind Mackey Madness, the most fun and fabulous lifestyle blog on the whole Internet. (Yep. I’ve checked the whole Internet… Well, sorta not. I just know, though.) Which brings me to the coincidence!
Obviously Megan is one savvy sartorialista, and I will tell you why. No sooner did I do a little research on the hottest hat and hair accessory trends for summer 2011, did Megan send me over this photo of her rockin’ my pick for the biggest and best look of the season: The floppy hat. Coincidence? Nah! I think it’s fate. It’s the perfect way for me to introduce you to this chic, pretty and totally gorgeous piece for warm weather. And the rest of her look is just as awesome. So, let’s talk about it. Then, go become BFFs with Megan. (All the cool kids are doing it.)
The floppy hat. Floppy hats are the biggest hat trend of the season, among straw fedoras, turban-style headwraps and bowler caps. And I’m a little obsessed. Like Megan, choose a pretty and pale color for the summer, or a straw version to tote with you everywhere, from the sidewalk to the pool. It’s the best accessory this season.
The LBD… no, not that LBD. No, not the Little Black Dress. The Little Bright Dress is the summer alternative. Just as slimming in the monochromatic tone, but way more fun, it’s a piece you should definitely have in your closet. Megan’s rich pink is a great way to go, as is a blazing red or deep electric blue.
Tie it in a bow. I think my unspoken motto is “Just belt it.” I’m a little obsessed with waist-cinching, but with good reason. It’s always important to find your middle, your smallest part, and accentuate it. I am particularly in love with little bows, like the one Megan is sporting, to add girlish flair to a look.
Cover it up. As you head out on the town for early summer evenings, make sure to choose a cute li’l cover-up like Megan’s to stay cozy and chic. It’s a fashionecessity. (Yes. You are correct. I just made that word up.) It’s best to pick light colors as opposed to weighing down your look with black or brown. Breathe fresh air into your style this season! Start with a cardi.
