Swimsuits: Finding One by Body Shape

It’s getting to be that time of year again… swimsuit time! Obviously, I am all awash in emotions over this. I love that we’re entering the season of sunshine, where pulling out a bathing suit doesn’t seem like a distant memory or an act so far on the horizon I can barely imagine it. However, I don’t feel exactly swimsuit ready yet. (I mean, I’m translucent-pale and still struggling to get back into the swing of my summer workout routine… yikes!)

But even so, let’s talk swimwear. Specifically, let’s talk swimwear that will best suit your body type, because if you’re anything like me (pale and in need of amping up the ol’ workout schedule), you want to show off your best assets.

#1: If you’re thin… If you have a bit of an athletic frame, choose a monokini. The monokini is great for a couple of reasons: First off, it automatically creates visual curves with the side cut-outs. Second, there’s just the right amount of coverage, but you’ll still easily be able to tan your back and shoulders. It’s the hottest swimwear style out there right now.

#2: If you’re petite… You can basically wear anything. Lucky you! I’d recommend a cute string bikini. A triangle top is the most flattering, and the tiny straps will keep you from getting those weird, thick tan-lines. Hugely important feature!

#3: If you’re busty… There is nothing worse than that massive fear of “popping out” of your swimsuit on the beach, and I think busty ladies fear this most, because so many swimsuits lack the proper support and coverage. To avoid this, choose a swimsuit that has padding on the top and an underwire to give support, such as a push-up.

#4: If you’re curvy… Choose a one piece in a fun pattern. The sweetheart neckline of this top gives plenty of coverage, while still looking totally chic. Plus, there is nothing like a fun print for the beach, and this retro look with animal print is a definite winner.
