There were a few trends for spring that you probably wouldn’t expect to see on the street all that often. Whether they’re styles that are coming back in fashion or a new twist on a basic look, there was a lot to love this season. Let’s talk about the trickiest trends off the runways and how to get them, because I know how much y’all love to be cutting-edge (which is awesome).
Overalls. At first, I was skeptical about this trend. How on earth could overalls actually be chic? But then, H&M created a pair for just $40. And I tried them on. And with a few simple tricks was able to transform them into something rather fabulous. Here’s the magic formula: layered bright tanks. Roll the pant-legs up above the ankle. Wear wedges. Leave one strap undone. Undone pretty and so easy. You’ve gotta try overalls!
Underwear as outerwear. It’s such a tricky trend, because it can go from tasteful to scandalous in a blink. If you want to try this trend out, then keep it classy. A bustier top with high-waisted shorts and a tie sweater is one way to go, or simply let that bra-like piece peek out under an eyelet crop top for more coverage.
Straw hats. I love straw hats, but mostly, I just wear them at the beach. If you want to take your hat from the sand to the street, opt for a straw fedora. The fedora has a more everyday-wearable vibe which is perfect for a bad hair day in warmer weather. They even make straw fedoras in bright colors. Forever cool!
Floral bags. I’ve been seeing floral-printed bags everywhere at stores and in magazines, and they seem a bit over-the-top at first. However, you can pull them off if you keep the rest of your outfit simple. Try a Little White Dress and wedges, or a gray tank, cut-offs, sandals and that fedora we just talked about above. You’ll be turning major heads with this girlie piece when the rest of your look is sweet and minimal.
