Summer Fashion: 4 Trends Worth Trying

For many months now we’ve talked about spring fashion and the fabulous trends we saw on the runways shows. How could we not be excited? After so many months of dreary weather and drab fashion, one can only expect to be ready for the brighter, lighter side of fashion. But now that we’re into the swing of spring, what are we to anticipate for summer? Most of the trends we’re enjoying now will transition into the warmer summer months but, there are a few new trends that are specific to the sunny season.  These trends are innovative, avant-garde and so perfect for summer that they beg to be tried. Here are the top contenders for summer…

Bonnets. Spring fashion was all about the 70’s and wide brim floppy hats. While this trend will continue on through summer, you can also consider the new alternative to headwear; bonnets. Too much exposure to the sun can dry out hair and burn your scalp, so try covering up with one of these head-conscious, femininely stylish head pieces.

Mix n’ Match Footwear. Taking the boyfriend-inspired trend up one notch, summer will bring us a fun and creative way to mix feminine with masculine. The season will be all about mix ‘n match footwear, which will have limitless possibilities of combinations. Flip flops and ballet flats, strappy heels with tennis-shoes; this trend is too hot not to try and let’s face it, we can all use a little bit of balance in our lives!

Face Lace. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but sometimes an extra bit of color here and there can take a pretty face to gorgeous in no time. Summer takes the lace trend up a few levels; to your face, to be exact. To get this look, simply place a patch of lace fabric over desired area and use your favorite eye shadow palette to color in the open spaces. The result will be unique, beautiful and feminine.

Trash Fash. With eco-conscious fashion on the rise, it’s no big surprise that green is the new black. Everything from organic fabrics to recycled materials has been introduced into the fashion world but being budget-conscious is also important, especially with summer outings on the horizon. Save your money for that long-anticipated vacation or pair of new shoes by wearing your trash.  I know – sounds insane, right? But the truth is that you can save a lot of money by mastering this technique. Get crafty and stylish with plastic mesh or bubble wrap – the possibilities are endless.

So there you have it; the 4 new hot trends to anticipate for summer. I’m definitely leaning towards the face lace trend.
