Blogger Style: Wearable High Fashion

Happy Blogger Tuesday, fashion mavens! Today, I bring you a real treat. We’re getting style tips from a rising (or shooting) star in the blogging world: the amazing V from Grit & Glamour.

There is so much to love about V. She is sartorially fearless, extremely gracious and does her part to help out other fashion bloggers looking to expand their online reach. Oh, and y’know, she manages to use her innate sense of style to bring high-fashion ideas into wearable, everyday looks. She’s got this whole perpetually chic thing down. If you don’t read her blog, then you don’t know what you’re missing, lovelies.

But you’ll have to wait and hop over there after you read about how to steal V’s look. Here, she wears one of the season’s best trends: The long skirt.

“This skirt is like a big, long comfy T-shirt — who knew a skirt with an elastic waist (gasp!) could be so glam,” V said on her blog. Well, I knew she could pull it off. Obviously. Now, let’s talk about how you can pull it off, too.

When wearing a long skirt, stick to one color. Create a long and lean silhouette by utilizing just one color, like V has done here. Multiple colors break up your figure and cut you off in places, so avoid that snag by staying within the same palette.

Play with proportion. An oversize sweater plays off the more fitted pieces in the look, the skirt and tank, to create balance. Weather it’s an off-the-shoulder tee or a roomy coat, opt for a little volume on top if the bottom is a bit more snug (or vice versa).

Accessorize with long necklaces. This look has a very relaxed, bohemian feel, so mimic that vibe when you’re accessorizing. I love V’s long, piled-on necklaces that shimmer and shine. Against the neutral canvas of her outfit, they’re the perfect accent without looking overdone.

Gotta have heels. Long skirts call for high heels to make your legs look even longer and slimmer. A chic wedge or platform, like V’s, is the best way to go to stay on-trend of the spring weather. (But, I will say, if you’d rather go flat and feel more comfortable that way, then choose a pair of riding boots.)

Keep hair natural. Super-done hair would have ruined this look. Windblown waves echo that pretty ease that V has captured with the rest of her ensemble. Let hair air dry and apply a texturizer to the ends for the best effect.
