Thank goodness it’s Friday, fashionistas. And I mean that. I’d just say TGIF, but the actual words seem necessary… they just seem to resonate more, don’t they? It’s the WEEKEND. Breathe it in, lovelies.
I hope you have a little fun planned for your couple days’ escape from the busy Monday-through-Friday mess. Maybe you’re even planning on a great date? Even an exciting first date?! If so, I have a few handy-dandy tips to help you get ready for your big evening out. In fact, these looks will take you all the way through spring and into summer. Menswear. For spring, think about taking your cooler-weather menswear looks into the new season. A button-down will look chic tucked into a short, high-waisted full skirt, and boyfriend jeans will look amazing rolled up to reveal a stellar pair of heels. Plus, come on. Your date will love the items from his (metaphorical) closet better on you than on himself.
Sundress or maxi-dress. If you’re feeling flirty and ultra-femme, opt for a short, swingy sundress. Accessorize with a bold necklace and gladiator sandals. If you’re feeling mod and bold, your dress of choice is the maxi dress. Keep the same accessory options and shoes for either look… I’m only making you decide which frock to step out in. But guaranteed, your guy will like either.
Wedges. Every man loves a great pair of heels. Isn’t it a running joke that a man had to have invented heels? Well, whatever. I’m still glad, as they absolutely make us ladies look taller, leaner and more confident. This season’s hot heel is the wedge. Snatch up a pair in a pretty, eye-popping color like sunny yellow or even a cool print, like leopard… or you know, you could buy both. (I would…)
A cropped denim jacket. It’s all about cropped pieces for spring. My favorite? The denim jacket. Throw it on over any look, even either of the dresses we discussed earlier, to look cute, casual and cutting edge.
Your beauty regimen… We’re starting to infuse a little sunshine back into our lives, so do the same with your beauty regimen. Guys love it when you glow, so invest in a great bronzer that will bring some sun-kissed color into your skin. Then, use a white shimmer eyeshadow in the corners of your eyes to make those babies pop. Finally, two layers of waterproof mascara and you’re good to go. For the warm weather days, keep your look gorgeous and naturally beautiful — just like you are.
