Hey, fashionistas… It’s time to wake up and look alive! Are you as excited as I am for Blogger Tuesday? (If not — although you should be — then humor me.) If you currently find yourself lethargically staring at your work computer (or something equally exciting) waiting for the clock to strike, well, weekend, I bring you a little dose of sunshine. I know it’s only Tuesday, but let’s look on the bright side. It’s going to be a stylish Tuesday, and that’s always a fabulous thing.
Today, I’m calling on lovely lifestyle-blogger Alisha to share an outfit with us. And there’s more where this came from on her great lil’ blog, Alisha & Brandon, where she chronicles her life as a newlywed. She’s definitely like a Blogger-World BFF, so do check out her site!
For today, Alisha’s shared a look that I’m dubbing “Reinvented Basics.” How about we talk about what makes this ensemble so awesome…
The vest is asymmetrical. It’s time to say goodbye to basic vests, and opt for an asymmetrical version like Alisha has on here. A swingy silhouette is perfect for breezy spring days, and adds a perfect amount of ease to the look. Plus, they are chic and comfortable, my two favorite qualities in a piece!
The necklace pops. Alisha’s basics are updated classics simple and pretty. Add in a colorful necklace, like this bold turquoise pendant, and you have a look with just the right amount of pizazz. For spring, here’s the rule of thumb: Always have at least one statement piece. Work on making each look, even a casual ensemble, a standout.
The neutrals play off each other. When choosing neutrals, pick colors that contrast for a little intrigue. Instead of doing black on black, choose the simple juxtaposition of black on gray. Each piece will be bolder as the hues play off one another, but are still low key enough to be complimentary. I mean, they are neutrals!
The jeans are just right. This season, try a straight-leg jean style like Alisha’s. If you want to mix things up and step away from the skinnies, or are a little tired of boot-cut jeans, a straight version is your go-to pant. Pair them with ballet flats, heels, sandals… the sky’s the limit! And they’re perfect for transitioning weather, as well. Roll them up when the spring temperatures really roll in.
Ballet flats are a spring essential. Lastly, ladies, you must grab a great pair of ballet flats for spring. Alisha’s are wonderful–a neutral shade will go with every outfit, and a little bow on top adds a cute accent. I’d suggest investing in a neutral style. They’ll be a wardrobe essential. Then, look to save on a few in colorful shades. There’s nothing more fun for spring/summer than shorts, a white tee and a bold pair of fire-engine red flats!
Thanks to Alisha for lending us her style genius for the day. Now, go check out this lady’s amazing blog!
