Blogger Style: Pretty, Classy, Casual

Happy Blogger Tuesday, lovelies! Today, I bring you a glimpse into spring fashion courtesy of fabulous lifestyle-blogger, Jenni. For those of you still caught in the winter chill (like me…), it’s a great look ahead for the upcoming season. For those of you transitioning into warmer weather right now, let’s discuss some styling options.

But, no matter what your temperature situation or location, y’all need to hop on over to Jenni’s blog for more cute styles and about a gazillion other fun ideas and anecdotes. The girl is hilarious, and Story of My Life can be your three-minute pick-me-up each day. I’m so serious. Go read… now. But, wait! Let’s talk about Jenni’s sweet, classy-casual style first. Duh. It’s why we’re doing this.

Hints for stripes… Horizontal stripes should be handled with care. The best way to wear them, since they are not universally flattering in every color, shape, size, etc., is just like Jenni. Keep colors soft, like a pretty pastel pink or faded gray. Also, make sure your shirt is loose, not super-fitted, for a low-key ease. Too-tight is never good, even worse when you’re working the stripe trend (which is adorable… just wear it right!).

Tuck in your tee. The perfect way to show off a pretty belt? Tuck in your shirt! Make sure the top is a little loose at the tuck, not pulled too tight where the fabric will create ripples, for an effortless effect–Jenni’s fit is spot-on.

Short-shorts should be tailored. Shorts with a shredded hem that too snug just don’t work. The proportion has to be correct. If you’re going to show a gorgeous flash of skin (if the bottom of the shorts are above your fingertips), then make sure you choose a tailored pair like Jenni has here. (P.S. She picked these up at J.Crew!)

Accessories and shoes should be cohesive, not matchy-matchy. Jenni’s belt is metallic gold, and her flats are a dark-nude hue. This is style genius, my friends. You want your accessories and shoes to be in the same color family, but not match exactly, or look as though you were attempting to match them exactly. The pieces should be at least a couple visible shades difference.

Okay, now you can head over to Story of My Life. You are dismissed, style students. Until tomorrow, of course.
