Street Style Revisited: Camel and Stripes

I love people watching and, consequentially, street style. I’ll admit that as glamorous and exciting as runway shows are, I sometimes find greater amusement in the unexpectedness of a street fashionista. It’s so much fun seeing what others wear; an unexpected combination of fabrics, patterns, or even a surprise element can bring a new light of fashion inspiration to us. Aside from appreciating the unique style of complete strangers and giving them a mental Fashion Bravo, I also like to make my own version of an outfit, whether it’s removing or adding an element, or simply adding some polish to the overall look. Such is the case of today’s street fashionista, whom we shall call Susie (perhaps because she reminds me of Susie Bubble in some distant way?).

“Susie” caught my eye because, even though she is dressed for comfort, her neutral color combination is one that attracts me. I’m a big fan of neutrals and a slight addiction to stripes! Using her comfortably stylish look, I swapped out a few pieces and added some accessories to polish up this look and take it up a notch from just a stroll around town. Here’s how you can achieve a polished, ready to hit-the-town version of this look.

1. Oxford High Heels. I swapped out Susie’s burgundy lace-up booties for a pair of taupe oxford high heels to add instant chicness to her getup.

2. Posie Tint. You can instantly add some rosy color to your lips and cheeks with a 2-in-1 face tint for an effortlessly made-up look.

3. Skinny Jeans. Instead of Susie’s navy leggings, you can dress up any daytime look with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans.

4. Boyfriend Blazer. I like Susie’s vintage camel jacket; take this piece up a notch with a boyfriend blazer in a similar color.

5. Daisy Cuff Bracelet. A single statement piece like this cuff bracelet can take any outfit from drab to fab, plus it will keep things from looking too masculine.

6. Gray Stripe Top. This is one of my favorite elements of Susie’s outfit; peek-a-boo stripes!

7. Crossbody Satchel. I replaced Susie’s small black shoulder bag with a chic camel satchel.  Every girl needs a neutral crossbody bag – it so versatile!
