What better way to continue the fashion week celebration than with a snap from a past fashion week for our street style breakdown? Sometimes, the real sartorial happenings are actually not on the runway. They’re really outside the runway or on the spectators instead of the models!
Now, a few of you media-savvy style students may recognize this lovely lady. As always, for the sake of our subject’s TOTAL anonymity, I would never mention that she is a style director for one of the biggest magazines in the world. Of course. But some of you might have a guess as to who she is–besides an obviously chic member of NYFW’s crowd.
Let’s talk about her look, because it is not only spot-on in every respect, but also a perfect way to transition into spring with the color palette. Off we go!
The layering. Our style subject does not shy away from layers. She disregards the fact that both of her shirts have collars. She even has three colors visibly showing. But this all works because she’s matching neutrals and completely owning this look. It’s effortless, isn’t it?
Punches of black. Here, black totally acts as her pop of color. It stands out against the faded white and light-denim canvas. Your eyes are instantly darn to her oversize clutch, sunglasses and black tank, and the fact that it’s black that’s taking in attention only makes her look seem that much more sophisticated. Gorgeous.
One statement accessory. That spiked bracelet this lady’s rocking is really a stand-alone piece. Too much more going on in the look, and it would be major overkill. If you have one amazing statement extra, then showcase it! And don’t put on any other bling. Simple can be great.
Denim is so versatile. This look would not be nearly as incredible sans denim vest. It gives a street-style edge to this gal’s would-be prim ensemble and totally infuses flair into her outfit. Plus, she could easily slip this vest on over a cocktail dress for another occasion or pair with riding boots and an loose tee at a different time. So many options!
Finally, those sunglasses! Could they be anymore glam? Um, I don’t think so, friends. Make sure you have at least one pair of over-the-top fabulous shades. Shoes are a girl’s best friend? That may be. But sunglasses are definitely still apart of her inner circle.
