Is anyone planning on a winter vacation? I saw this photo and it immediately screamed, “It’s time for a warm-weather getaway!” If you’re thinking in that direction, or are ready to embrace some runway looks for the upcoming season, then this whole look is pretty perfect. Today’s street style subject has mastered a huge spring 2011 trend: mixed prints. Here’s what I’m loving about her outfit.
The aforementioned prints. Now, there were some crazy mixed prints on the catwalks for spring. We’re talking, I-could-never-wear-that-look-in-public print pairings. However, this skirt-and-tank combination totally works because of the simplicity and the color palette. The small dots on the skirt and the floral pattern on the shirt are complimentary, with just the right amount of contrast to play off each other in great taste. When working this look, stick to more subdued styles.
Belt it. A belt makes anything and everything look better. Want to create some curves with a sheath dress? Add a belt. Want to define your waist in an oversize sweater? Call upon a cinched. I’m talking absolutely anything, friends. This high-waisted skirt looks million times better with a long, roped belt to highlight her smallest section.
A pop of color…Warm weather calls for one thing: color! Put away those winter grays and get on board with fire-engine red, neon pink, electric blue and sunny yellow. A dash of color at the feet is a great option to show off fun and fearless shoes.
…and the wedges! Wedges are a great spring shoe, and a perpetually chic option for the sunnier days. You can wear classic platform styles or even take a page out of Michael Kors book of easy fabulosity and get on board with flatworms! His new runway trend for the season was a flat version of the platform wedge, which is just as adorable and far more comfortable. Michael is a genius for coming up with it.
Loose waves. The beauty essential to compliment such a breezy look is obviously windblown waves. Embrace your natural texture by working a dollop of mousse through damp strands and let your hair air dry. If you’re locks are stick-straight, then french braid damp hair before bed and let the twists loose in the morning. Voilá! Insta-waves!
Are you planning on a winter getaway, or are you as excited as I am about this new trend for spring? Let me know in the comments if you’ll be mixing any prints this coming season.
