I hate being critical. I know how much effort goes into the outfit selection process, even if our goal is to look effortless. That’s why, when it came time to breaking down this look, I sort of winced a little bit. There’s a lot going on here, and it’s not all good.
I have some problems with this look. I am sorry, dear style subject. For the sake of our constant goal — amazing fashion — I am going to call out a few errors. Do forgive me. Please!
Ah! Here I go…
Ugh! Uggs? These boots should have never been invented. Why? Because they are too darn comfortable and we can’t resist their softness, warmness and coziness! But they just aren’t fashion-forward. They are ugly, as indicated in their name. If you are a big Uggs fan, then I urge you to break the addiction. I know it’s hard, but just say no.
We’ve got cords and denim. These just don’t mesh well together. Cords are on the dressier side, and denim is about as casual as material comes. Pair the two together and you have a borderline sloppy look. And even if you’re going for casual, you have to be careful. One misstep like this one and your look is derailed. Yikes!
The blouse is too small. Look at where the bottom of the button-up hits. It’s not even to the hips, which isn’t good. These shirts, if anything, should be a bit oversized. Ideally, they should fall just past your rear. That’s totally on-trend. Shrunken looks are not super-flattering on most people and have sort of fallen to the wayside. I don’t make the rules! I just enforce the designers’ catwalk mindsets.
OK! A little praise. Now that we have all the not-so-good out of the way, let’s hit on a positive. Denim jackets! These re-emerged as a major staple last spring, and you can expect to see them around this coming season as well. If you’re looking to invest in a great spring essential, then start right here. This lady has that figured out!
Am I off-base with my analysis? What do you think of this look? Sound off in the comments!
