For those of you out there who are obsessed with all things chic, you may know who the gal in this picture is. (Of course, I won’t tell you on style breakdowns, but some of you savvy fashionistas may be in the know!) However, it doesn’t really matter what her name is. Whether she is a random passerby on the street or the creator of a *ahem* Choo *ahem* empire, her style works because she makes simplicity stunning. For that, I will salute her and tell you why it works.
Who knew a white tee could be dressed up? You’d think a simple white tank would be the ultimate in low-key essentials, but the lovely lady here manages to dress it up quite nicely. All that matters is what you’re pairing your casual piece with. A sleek, black cover-up, tailored jeans and heels are sophisticated, so the tank takes on that same status.
Shoes make a look. Be aware of footwear, friends! It creates a vibe for your entire look. A tulle skirt can instantly be dressed down with combat boots, and here, a simple white tank and jeans are immediately jazzed up with a pair of stunning, studded heels. Now think about it like this, how would this look change if she had on flip-flops instead? Exactly. Not nearly as elegant.
Choose dark-wash jeans with a boot-cut. The cut and wash of these jeans create a more pulled-together effect, and are also entirely slimming. If you plan to dress up jeans, make sure the wash is dark blue or black and the cut is a flare or boot-cut. Anything else will come off as too casual.
It’s all about proportion. Our style breakdown star hits just the right notes with proportion. Notice the fitted tank is nicely contrasted by the roomier, flowing sweater she wears open over it.
