Getting ready in the morning can be a rather arduous task, especially if you are like me and cannot peel back the cozy covers until you’ve hit the snooze button for at least a full hour. This routine is not ideal, but it is also not changing. At least, not anytime soon.
So, to counter my bad habits, I’ve come up with a list of rules to make getting ready more stress-free and streamlined. When you don’t have time to spare but still want to look fabulous, there is only one thing you can do: adopt some simple morning-friendly methodology. Here’s my plan. Follow along.
Bold eye or lip, but not both. Let’s get real; dolling up your entire face for a day at school or the office is a major chore, and also pretty unnecessary. That’s why you should choose to accentuate just one feature. If you’re feeling like a making a statement with your lips, then choose a mahogany or red lip stain and keep it to just mascara on your peepers. Want to wow with your gorgeous eyes? Then choose a dark liner for the top lid, double up coats of mascara and simply add a little strawberry ChapStick to bring out the natural color in your smackers. Don’t do both. It’s unnecessary and too time consuming for every day.
Dressing up is better than dressing down. When in doubt, always get more dressed up for an important meeting or presentation than not dressed up enough. So, when deciding between two ensembles, pick the one with more polish. When you look pulled together, you feel that way, too.
Never try out a new hairstyle the day you plan to wear it. I’ve broken this rule a few times, and it always turns out badly. Just because the magazine promised that this new look is “easy†and “fail-safe†does not mean you won’t hate the result when you try to put it all together the next morning. Just don’t do it. But if you had a moment of weakness and find yourself in a bind, make sure you have a thick black headband around. It goes with everything, and will totally save your beauty life if you have a lapse.
Accessories are essential. A basic button-down and a pair of wide-leg trousers are pretty, but also pretty basic. However, this look turns to dynamite when you add in a pretty croc-skin clutch, pair of chandelier earrings and a bold menswear watch. Never neglect accessories. They simply elevate every look.
What are your morning routine rules? Will you follow any of mine? I hope so! Let me know in the comments.

I completely agree with you about sticking to one key thing to simplify your morning routine. My go to for the day is lovely lips so I use a tinted lip gloss that moisturizes and adds a touch of color. I keep a tube close by so I can reapply during the day as needed.
I have a friend who loves to play up her eyes so she does a fabulous eye in the morning and wears only clear gloss on her lips. We both keep it simple while playing up our most important feature!!!
I agree with you Aurora. Lips and eyes at the same time is just too much for the day time. I just keep on reapplying my tinted lip balm and over a period of time and it turns into a nice natural red for the evening.

I also use organic mascara found on http://www.best-mascare.me for a gulit free natual look that never give me issues with my contacts. I love new products, brushes and colour found all over the web. Organic cosmetics are the only ways to go.
