IÂ’m just going to say it right away: Ke$ha is emerging as a style icon. And before you call me crazy and shut off your computer, hear me out on this one. I think there are some definite lessons we can learn from this wild singerÂ’s edgy style.
A friend of mine listed Ke$ha as one of her style inspirations today, and at first I thought she was joking. There was no way Ms. Trashy-Fabulous could be construed as a source of fashion-forward ideas. I wasnÂ’t buying it at first, but then I started to think about it. And I had to admit something: I was wrong. Ke$ha is pretty darn stylish and actually has some genuine fashion smarts. DonÂ’t believe me? Then let me try to prove my point.
Work trends in an interesting way. Ke$ha has been seen rocking some of the most fabulous trends as of late: motorcycle jackets, sequins, aviators, gunmetal jewelry. And not only does she incorporate trendy pieces into her look, but she also does it purposefully in a way that evokes her true style. Which leads me to my next pointÂ…
Think about your style. The “Take It Off” singer definitely has a point of view when it comes to her look, and that is so important when you are developing your sense of fashion. Think about the pieces you wear as a reflection of your genuine style. Ke$ha does this so well, and we get a clear glimpse into her creative side through her ensembles.
Be bold. It is so important to take style risks, and Ke$ha is the queen of pushing the envelope. Take a page out of her handbook and stand out. Bold colors like red and electric blue, a touch of glitter or some biker boots are great places to start.
Be you. And the most important style lesson our dear prodigal style-child has taught us? Just be you. Fashion is a reflection of your creative thoughts and ideas, so make sure that shines through when you dress. If you never step it up a notch, then you run the risk of staying in a style rut. You donÂ’t want people to think you are boring, right? Of course not! So be you, wear what you want and rock your one-of-a-kind style. Just like Ke$ha.
There are a few things we should glean from this singerÂ’s style. Most important? Being bold and being you will always be in fashion, even if your style is classified as somewhat crazy.
