Faux Fur Fabric: A Winter Must-Have

I donÂ’t like to get involved in the fashion debate about fur. I know that many of the industryÂ’s elite have some strong opinions about using fur in runway designs, and IÂ’m sure PETA has a lot to say about it, too, but I havenÂ’t really formed a solid opinion on whether or not I feel wearing genuine fur is inhumane. But, I donÂ’t think I could do it, anyway. There is just something about it being real that irks me, but thatÂ’s not to say I donÂ’t love the look. ThatÂ’s why this season I am opting for faux fur. And a lot of it.

Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana all sent out amazing fur looks for their winter runway shows that are completely worth replicating. IÂ’m sure that their furs were totally genuine, but if you are hesitant about that like I am, then just make the faux styles a part of your wardrobe instead. Here are the pieces you should consider investing in for the chicest look this winter.

Fur-trimmed jackets. Go high style or low key with a fur-trimmed jacket. Whether you opt for a sophisticated tailored coat with fur collars like at Marc Jacobs or an oversized topper with a fur hood at Michael Kors, there is a little something for everyone. Another great look is H&MÂ’s army-green parka for just $40. Great fur hood. Military trend. Super warm. What else could you ask for?

Bags. This season, bags are covered in fur details for a fun, luxe look. The most incredible carryalls were found on the Celine runway. The structured bags featured a rabbit-fur flap with a gold lock to keep all your belongings in place. Look for similar styles to hit department stores soon. I know I will be!

Boots. UGGs are so over (except when you’re at home — then the slippers are still divine). Elegant, fur-lined boots are the gorgeous trend to embrace this season. Michael Kors gave us some over-the-knee boots on his runway, and Manolo Blahnik featured ankle-length styles with soft, gray fur trim and a low heel. Both are equally fabulous options for the coldest days.

Hats. My favorite way to rock the fur trend is with some awesome headwear. Target stores always carry perfect fuzzy hats, from lined trapper hats to completely fur, Russian-style hats. And in the winter, they are as cozy as they are cute.

I hope you choose to stay warm this season in style. With all the awesome faux fur looks, there is no reason to sacrifice your fashionable sensibilities as the freeze sets in!
