Pantene has joined parent company Proctor and Gamble in their ChildrenÂ’s Safe Drinking Water Program to
help transform contaminated water into potable water in the developing world. Right now, over half a billion women and children in developing countries donÂ’t have access to safe drinking water.
The initiative is called Healthy Hair for Healthy Water and is a global program with the goal to ‘save one life every hour’ by providing two billion liters of clean water every year by 2020 to in-need women and children in developing parts of the world.
How can you help? ItÂ’s as easy as buying your Pantene products online. Patene is donating 10 cents to CSDW on every bottle bought from this e-boutique through February 28, 2011. It might not sound like much, but 10 cents is all it takes to providing one week of clean drinking water (equivalent to 10 liters) to a child in need.
Then Proctor and Gamble provide packs of their own PUR purifying water technology. A packet the size of a packet of ketchup can purify up to 10 liters of water. The powder features causes contaminats to clump together and chlorine kills bacteria and viruses. The Pantene website says “five clinical studies by the Centers of Disease Control and Johns Hopkins University showed that PUR packets lead to an average of a 50% reduction in the incidence of diarrhea. Furthermore they remove 98% of arsenic and greater than 99.9% of cryptosporidium and giardia, two of the most concerning chlorine-resistant parasites when it comes to water contamination.”
If you use Pantene, book mark this link, buy all of your products here through February and help thirsty children without access to clean drinking water.
