Today is the first annual Patterns For Paws doggy fashion show and cocktail party to benefit the Amanda Foundation. If you’re not familiar with this charity, its goals are to rescue and rehome dogs and cats from “death row” in Los Angeles. To help promote and raise money for their cause, they’ve asked dog fashion designers to create awesome costumes for some lucky, adoptable dogs to wear in the show. Some famous celebrities will also escort the dogs down the runway.

I think this is a great cause and a particularly unique way of raising awareness and support for the Amanda Foundation. But really, like any fashion show, donÂ’t we want to know what the stars are wearing? And in this case, the dogsÂ’ fashionable looks really make this event special.
ItÂ’s particularly funny to me to see human fashion trends reflected in what the animals are wearing. Does dog fashion reveal universal human fashion truths? Even ones we would maybe like to deny?
For example, the first dog, Ruby, is decked out in a full body Lakers outfit. He appears to be wearing a dog sized yellow warm up jacket as well as a bandana with a Lakers logo boldly emblazoned – more hilarious is perhaps that both items appear to be signed! Now as much as I would like to pretend this outfit does not reflect human fashion, sadly it does. As anyone who has ever been to a Lakers game at Staples Center knows, Lakers fans get dressed up head-to-toe in all the paraphernalia they own.
The next dog, Rosie, seems to me to reflect the fashion of women who love to go all out with their femininity. Rosie is wearing a white, pink, and red dress with small flowers on the fabric. And her dress is topped off with a layer of pink tulle at the bottom. But what really enhances this whole look is Rosie’s hat, which appears to be made entirely out of red fabric flowers, which then ties beneath her chin. Her outfit reminds me of the quintessential image of a “lady who lunches,” who is traditionally all decked out in her formal, but very girly wear.
Aside from the great cause, I think itÂ’s very interesting to look at these dogsÂ’ outfits and see how they reflect human fashion within them. Who knows, maybe the next great fashion designer will first be a dog fashion designer!

Classic exposition, I have also mentioned it in my blog article. But it is a pity that almost no friend discussed it with me.I am very happy to see your article.
