Beauty Essentials for Graduation Season

It’s that time of year: the birds are singing, the bees are buzzing, and the grass is greener on the other side. It’s graduation season, and that means that everyone, from your brother to your aunt to your little niece is graduating – closing one book in their lives and literally evolving to a newer, more advanced level of themselves. Maybe going from preschool to the big elementary school.

Maybe graduating college  and venturing out to the great unknown. Maybe getting married – graduating from being a dating individual to half of a married pair. It’s a scary time, and all of the stress and greasy, sugar-filled graduation food and the long hours in travel time are taking a toll on your skin. What’s a girl to do?

There are a couple of tips I can give you to make sure you have a photogenic graduation season. Follow these three tips, and you should have a handle on your skin and beauty, even if you don’t have a choice of which events you go to, or what social blow-ups happen at them.

1. Stay hydrated in face and mind: Drink lots of water, but also hydrate your skin with moisturizing sunblock. You can get sunburned even from leaving your arm hanging out the car window if you’ve been penned up in the office for too many winter months. Don’t show up with a blotchy forearm without warning.

2. Have your on-the-go freshen-up pack ready and in hand. You will need cleansing pads, makeup remover, foundation, chapstick, powder, travel-size tooth brush and toothpaste, hairbrush, and tweezers. That should take care of all possible ailments.Keep it all in a small, modest makeup travel bag that you can sneak off to the bathroom with.

3. Have a fresh look for the season: no heavy lipsticks, foundations, eye shadows or liners, which will make you feel cakey and heavy. Go for a light powder cover-up, lip gloss and some peachy eyeshadow. Keep it simple, sparkling, and fresh.
