Product Hits and Misses: French Manicures

Vive la France! French manicures are considered some of the classiest ways to update your beauty look, but can be very expensive to maintain if you go for the standard salon treatment. With manicures upwards of $50 and special “tip” maintenance for when the square edges of your nails become chipped every 1.5-2 weeks, it can cost a bundle. Do you think the French manicure is worth the expense? Would you like to mimic the look, with a cheaper alternative?

French manicures au natural are admirable, because I think it promotes good health and a healthy attitude about body beauty. Only if you don’t go for the cheap fake nails on top of the others.

Plastering plastic on top of your natural nails steals away all change of having healthy hands, promotes infection, and makes scary clacky noises when you type of the computers that’s a dead giveaway for your fake nails. Avoid this by drinking lots of milk and water, eating healthy, and taking good care of your hands: moisturize daily, and the trick is to file your nails instead of cutting them, which hinders growth.

Product Review:

Thumbs Down: The Kiss Broadway Nails Fast French Nail Kit with Pink Gel Glue says it will enhance your nail bed color with it’s special Glue. Not true! It’s sticky, messy, and removing the nails is a disaster. My recommendation: skip the “special glue” and buy yourself some nude nail color for your at-home manicure base. That will take care of the problem, and the nail polish won’t rip off your nail when you try to remove it!

Thumbs Up: If you want healthy hands and nails, buy yourself a manicure tool kit like the Tweezerman Manicure Solution Kit. It comes with all the necessary tools to take care of your nail beds, overhangs, and chipping nails. The nice kits also come with pedicure materials, too - a two in one, what a treat!

What do you think? Are fake nail tips still in? Or is natural nail care on the rise?
