Style Review: Brains and Botany

The Look:

Despite the chilly weather, this Art History major from New York University gets the city for spring. This sophomore wears her spring dress and layers it with a utility coat adorned with a jeweled colored scarf. With spectacles on her face, she adds a studious look to her Spring sneak peek ensemble. And accessories her outfit with substantial boots and a floral over the shoulder bag. With a visual examination, I identify a pop of floral prints all over her outfit. She mixes femininity with a military influence–book-and-street-smarts: a modern lady combination.

Make it Yours:

Consider mixing soft touches with tough accessories. Try blending feminine shapes and patterns with military-inspired pieces. Like this college student, try mixing different floral patterns with a different background color that are complementary to one another. A hint of pattern shown allows you to mix and match with other prints so that you can create a floral fantasy of your own. Be less predictable, and highlight your outfit with more modern looks such as the lace-up boots, sheer tights, or a snuggly scarf. A floral print can radiate granny-style or country grammar, so coordinate these botanical looks with stylish pieces for a fresh and edgy look. To get this style invest in the following:
