Women’s jeans have become the most essential article of clothing in our closets. Whether it’s a casual day, professional afternoon, or get dressed-up night, we find that jeans are a good foundation for our outfits. With the variations of jean styles and different washes used, there are an array of looks to choose from. In my closet, I would be considered a jean queen with the denim collection I have stored.
With folded stacks of jeans from trouser looks, straight legs, to skinny pants, I consider the types of washes to express myself and reflect the mood I am in. With the use of color psychology, there has to be some correlation with the psychology of denim washes. See below for how different jean washes reflect my different moods:
Dark Blue Wash: When I’m feeling like I want to be taken seriously, I opt for dark blue washes. The dark looks set a professional tone, which is ideal for business engagements and nice venues. Best when matched with a fancy top or blazer for a sassy look. 
Light Blue Wash: If I want to be carefree and ignore the stress I face, I want to be comfortable with myself and dress casual. I wear light washed jeans. The lighter blues set a relaxed tone, and they are perfect when worn with a sweater or basic t-shirt. This ensemble gives the impression of simplicity at its finest.
Acid/Stone Wash: When I just want to have fun, I go for something different like the acid or stone wash. This type of wash is dated back to the 80′s, when we admitted “living in a material world.” The abstract look creates a modern feel, giving me more confidence to “just be daring” and enjoy life and all its pleasures.
Colored Wash: If I am feeling fashion forward and want to stand out in a crowd of blue jeans, I opt for colored washes like black or gray. The dark tones create a more polished look, and the colors are neutral for easy matching. The idea of a colored jean is a contemporary look, which is stylish and posh.
