The first time I heard about Spanx I was sitting in the living room with my fiance lamenting about being unable to find clothing that seemed to fit me properly – especially during the season of post holiday bulge. I was particularly disgruntled about having to shop for pantyhose – an item that NEVER seems to fit correctly no matter what size I’m wearing.
Because of my animosity towards these items of clothing, I am pretty sure I do not own a single pair of pantyhose right now. Good thing I’m not going out.
Anyway – he suggested that perhaps I should buy a pair of Spanx.
My response was a mixture of curiosity and, I admit, despair. Was he making up some absurd product to make fun of me? Why had I never heard of Spanx before?
I, obviously, went to look up Spanx and there it was – the must-have item of the century – the Spanx Hide & Seek half slip. Excuse me for being a bit over excited about an underwear style product, but anyone who’s had tummy bulge popping over her skirt or pantyhose knows exactly why I would be ecstatic over a slip that clings to the body and smooths everything from the stomach down. Hooray!

I love spanx too! I have tried the high power panty for under tighter fitting dresses. Another great brand for cover up tanks is yummie tummie. These tanks are made for layering and are longer than spanx, which I think is more comfortable. You should check out that brand as well!
What’s interesting to me is that your fiance already knew about Spanx. When I started going out with my current boyfriend, I had the usual worries about his reaction to the fact that I wear Spanx whenever I wear a skirt or a dress. Eventually, it became impossible to hide this (he put his hand on my thigh and I started to apologize profusely). He immediately put me at ease by saying that guys knew all about Spanx because most girls who care about how they look wear them. He had no problem with them at all and in fact even said that he thought they were great because they made it easier for women to feel good about dressing up and guys liked it when women dressed up. So, my secret is out. Guys are okay with it and most of us, by this point, couldn’t live without them.
My boyfriend loves it when I take my skirt off and show off my spanx. I usually wear them with a T shirt while were relaxing watching TV.
I attended the Kentucky derby this past weekend and I had spanx power panties on under my gown, if I had to guess I would say that it was not just the celebrities wearing spanx.
I don’t think it’s odd at all that you hadn’t heard about Spanx. A lot of my friends scrunched up their faces and didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. I love my Spanx!
