How to Get Rid of Your Female Mustache – Whiskers Belong on Cats

How to get rid of a Female Mustache - Beauty Tips & Tricks

On Sunday me and my best friends went to Pasadena and immersed ourselves in female bonding. Which roughly translates to brunch (w/ Mimosas) followed by leisurely walking up and down Colorado Blvd. window shopping and shopping-shopping. It was good times!

Tipsy shopping is perhaps the best version of shopping out there. Makes elbowing that chick who keeps eyeing the shirt you are holding bearable. :)

Well we wandered into Sephora and quickly broke formation and went to different parts of the store. I headed towards the make-up brushes, where I was greeted by this lovely Indian girl who was sporting a serious female mustache. (Mind you the gal had great eyelashes and it was evident that if she didn’t tweeze she would probably have a unibrow as well..) To be clear I mean she didn’t just have the occasional 2 or 3 random long whiskers around the corners of her mouth, she had full stache attack! My Asian brothers would have been envious of her robust growth is my point.

Which inspired this post, HOW TO GET RID OF YOUR FEMALE MUSTACHE?

Female Mustache - Big Trailer Park Mustache

Do you suffer from great big, chain smoking, trailer park mustache?

Solution 1: SHAVE /WAX

Personally I get mine waxed, it’s become a beauty combo meal. I get my bi-weekly mani-pedicure and I throw in a lip wax for good measure. Now keep in mind I am Asian so my growth is not really furry mammoth status, more like faint peach fuzz. If I were the lass from Sephora I mentioned above I would go once a week!

I was always told NOT to shave! The conspiracy theory is it will grow back thicker and hairier! I don’t know from experience if this is the case but I know some people who do, and their upper lip looks fine to me. Plus it may be cheaper. You could always have it threaded too. The cool thing about threading is that the hair definitely grows in finer since it is being pulled from the root. (If anyone knows from first hand experience that shaving is bad, please do share)

Female Mustache - Hitler Mustache

Do you have a crazy Hitler mustache with additional chin p^bes?!

Solution 2: Laser Removal / Electrolysis

For you ladies that God neglected during the creation process (I kid) if you have heavy to severe growth you might want to crack your piggy banks and research Laser Removal or Electrolysis. In all honesty I would consider doing this for my bikini area, I am just afraid the skin down there would be too sensitive. Also, I knew this one girl who did electrolysis on her face and she got a slight discoloration on her upper lip. I think her skin was sensitive to the light or whatever. I think I’ll stick to my waxes for now…

Female Mustache - Purple Rain Mustache

Do you have Purple Rain peach fuzz?

Solution 3: Tweeze / Bleaching

I nearly forgot to mention that you could always tweeze if you have a handful of long cat whiskers. I would only recommend this if you have a couple of stray hairs that grow abnormally long and don’t require full wax and such. They say that tweezing loosens the skin due to the tugging, and may eventually cause premature saggy skin. Hmm, I don’t think this is too much of a concern around the lips, but is something to consider around the eyes.

If you have very moderate, fine, peach fuzz hair growth you could always bleach it! The logic here is to lighten the hair thus making it less of an eye sore. Personally I think this is sortuv counter productive. The way I see it is if you have to bleach it, you can see it and turning it platinum doesn’t make it invisible! :)

If you are spending the time and money to bleach it, why not wax it and get rid of it?

Female Mustache -Circus Quality Mustache

Do you have a Yosemite Sam quality mustache like this lass?

Solution 4: JOIN THE CIRCUS

…and I am done. :)

Great pics! Hilarious. I HATE hair anywhere but eyebrows, lashes and scalp.

  2. Hey I had the worst facial hair, yet Adelle at Adelle Facial took it all away in one waxing swoop. Go see her in Playa Del Rey.

  3. Laura says:

I have sensitive skin, but I tried waxing it anyway ( about a year ago). I still have a small shiny red mark at the corner of my mouth where I get whiskers…not for me and my sensitive skin (same happens with my eyebrows- they stay red until they grow back in !). Anyway- for me, the solution is now threading. I googled it, and here in Atlanta, the places doing it were Indian beauty salons- I went, and they did a fantastic job. Red for 5 minutes tops. Not nearly as painful as waxing (imo) I do have a Puerto Rican friend who shaves, and it looks fine- but if it grows in…stubble. Not like legs, but…

  4. Murlann vaine says:

    DON’T SHAVE!!
I have a friend who shaves and it leaves stubble like men have on their face. It does grow back thick, not as thick as a man, but almost as bad. You can use surgi cream on your face. It only takes 15 minutes out of your week to do this and it does work. I have used it on old women patients to get rid of the mustache.

  5. Don Pearce says:

My daughter is 9 yrs old and she has a faint moustache that she is concerned with. Any advice out there regarding treatment for pre-teens with this problem?

  6. amy x says:

dont shavee ;-\ i shaved my girl moustache hing and it grew in all stubble x i regrett it noww x the hair does get darkerr and people noticee :$ my opinion is just go get it waxed or bleached but not pure bleached that it actually goes platinumm ;-\ lol x

  7. olivia says:

okay so I have I slight mustache that tends to me less noticable when I am tan. But all of my “pale” months are miserable! Every day I wake up looking at it and my heart. Drops knowing people state at it! Please I need help! Is there any way to get it removed and never grow back?

  8. anonymous100 says:

do not shave!! it could lead to being your worst nightmare if it is genetic that you have thick or darker colored hair. ive been shaving for a year now on my upper lip because i am not a fan of hair on ladies… but now it grows in course and it looks like one of those male faces where the pores are huge and it grows in rapidly so you have to shave daily but you can notice its still growing. its a living nightmare so id prob say for people with tough skin like that go for the laser removal, you have to do it a couple times but i know that it works because my friend had it done and it wasnt that painful. It may discolor for a day or so but it goes away and its worth the money!

  9. concerned mom says:

My beautiful daughter is 6 years old. She is 1/2 hispanic/black. She has a very fine dark mustage that she has expressed concern about over and over. I too grew up with the teasing about a mustache and unibrow, etc and don’t want her to go through that but at the same time she is still a baby to me. In search of motherly advice.

  10. Lauren says:

I am 18 years old I am concerned about my mustache… I wanna shave it but I’m scared because the rest of my face is hairy… My boyfriend always talks about it but I just laugh… But as I really look at it I think it is getting thicker and I think that I’m getting lighter and it is more visible… What do I do??

  17. Hannah says:

Harro, I was just browsing sites to find out which way was best to get rid of some peach fuzz that’s chilling out on my upper lip :P . And I thought this blog was pretty entertaining, just so you know. Haha.

Well I’m 17 and going off to college next year so I guess I decided I need to lose the fuzz and other things over the summer [[cough, giant calve muscles, cough]]. Hopefully I actually get around to these things.. Haha well

OBVIOUSLY, you must know the solution to everyone else’s ‘mustaches’, since you made this very informative blog. So I was hoping you’d at least try to help me out :]!

    I’m korean [[>>dark haired>pale pale skin:]

And yet, it doesn’t really seem that bad compared to what it could be haha, just around the edges it’s like more noticable than in the middle because of some scar i got when i was little. [[tells you my whole life's story]]

Anyways. I was wondering if it would be better to get it waxed professionally or just bleach it with Jolen’s or whatever rofl. I think the bleach would be alright for now since my skin’s pale, no? + waxing right now would be kinda hard because my parents are kinda FOB… my mom doesn’t even shave her legs lol ahh koreans ):!

If you could help, great. if not i hope you enjoyed some of my sarcasm and most of my very lengthy comment :3! [[even though you posted this blog almost a year ago lols]]

  18. Hannah says:

“I’m korean [[dark haired *~*]] with pale pale skin [[oh yeah, they think I have the most beautiful skin... in korea T.T]] with a red undertone. My “mustache” is like kinda noticeable I suppose, and before when I was younger I like used some electric hair cutter to cut it off then later I waxed with a home kit [[red mark for days.. sweet]] and then tweezed the edge cause it looked funky. I don’t know, HAha I’ve done a lot to the poor things. >:]” *

  28. I Hate My Stache says:

I waxed my little fuzz once, but I don’t think I pulled them all out from the roots properly because they grew back…I don’t know if they’re thicker or if I’m just paranoid. I have light brown skin and dark dark dark brown hair…>.

  29. faye says:

i am 15yrs old, i hate having a stache i get called names everyday at school, i hate it soooooooooooooo much, i just want it to go. Each time i look in the mirror all i can see is dark hair that stands out on my face, i just want it to go. i dont even like lookinng at people when they talk to me i cant stand it. But i am glad im not the only one, but i dont get why i have one, yes i have dark hair but i have medium skin colour and so do my friends but yet they have nothing above there lip, so why me ?? :( i want a solution its just not fair !!!

  30. mimi says:

im 13 and want to get rid of my stache. can i get laser hair removal at this age? is that like the right thing to do?

  31. natty says:

for all those girls out there who have a little bit of peach fuzz or more……… DO NOT EVER SHAVE!!!!!!!! trust me it will grow back thicker and thicker and you would have made one of the worst mistakes in your life! A girl at my school shaved it and every week I could notice it was blacker and thicker…. everyone made fun of her and she had a very sad life……. so don’t shave

  32. ihate_mymustache says:

i am hispanic 14 year old, i honestly think im pretty. However everytime i look in the mirror all i focus on is that STUPID UGLY mustache of mine ;/ i swear if i got that thing off my life would be so much easier.
Well, after reading all this comments it was good to know i wasnt the only one, but i still NEED to get that off my face. This just ruins my life. So what you people think i should try first? O:

  33. Hannah says:

    Okay, so, I’m 12 now.

But when I was younger around 7, people started telling me I had a moustache! I am very pale skinned, but I’ve got dark hair. My moustache wasn’t even that bad, it was very faint but still people saw it.
At 8, I found my mums shaver and shaved it. Worst mistake ever.
I didn’t shave it for a while, but when I was 10, I just came home from school and got really annoyed and looked for the shaver, shaved it off, and I was happy I didn’t have one, but, then I had to keep shaving like everyday for about a year!
I finally said it to my mum and she bought me a kit for bleaching the hair. If you look closely now, you can see white hairs, but for some reason, still blackk dots. It’s odd. And from a few meters back, it’s quite bad. But you can see no black hair, only black dots, HOW DO I GET RID OF THE DOTS? AH!

  34. Amelia says:

I have a mustache and I hate it! My husband doesn’t mind it and says if it were a real mustache it would look like his. But whenever I talk to people, I always feel like they are looking at my lip. I want to get it threaded but I’m worried about the pain. I also have hair on my face- not thick hair- but i have hair. So I’m worried if I get it threaded that you’ll be able to see where my mustache was.

  35. Ayu says:

I’m glad there are others like me :)

I’m a 15 year old Asian with tannish skin, and even so my mustache is pretty noticeable. At first, it was just a little peach fuzz. But then these boys back in the 4th grade made fun of me for it to the point where I broke down and got a pair of scizzors and chopped off the sides of my mustache. I REAAALLLY regret doing that. Because of that, my stache grew back darker and thicker. You can actually see that the sides are darker than the middle. GIRLS, DON’T YOU EVER SHAVE OR CUT OFF YOUR STACHE WITH SCIZZORS!! IT’S SO NOT WORTH IT!!

That said, if I were to bleach my mustache would it be less noticeable? My mustache is pretty noticeable. If you have a dark mustache, would it work to bleach it or would it look wierd?

  36. madi says:

ok so i’ve had this problem for ever!! when i turned 10 i relized i had one and wanted to get rid of it, so i’ve tried everything, wax, cream, plucking. First i would go like every month to this lady who waxed it, and it was rlly great … for about five or six days. little hairs would grow back. I would pulck them and then that would help.
but then i stopped going to that lady. (mom didnt want to take me) and then i tried plucking for a while and that worked really good (stayed hairless for about 2 weeks) and then when it grew back i would do the same thing but after a while i was so tired of the pain and then i got my moms cream thing and that’s not working rlly well i have little stubs left. Im so tired of my mustache!!!

  37. cc says:

  39. Ashley says:

Honestly guys I shaved my female stache and its fine . It grows back in like 3 days and I just shave it when I shave my legs like I always do and I have a lot of hair and its black . It doesn’t cause anything and of course its gonna grow stubbly and look stubbly and be seen as thicker if you don’t shave bc when you shave its cut into a square tip angle I guess which makes it look thick but that’s impossible actually . If anything waxing makes pores bigger over time just like those nose blackhead srips that eventually make pores bigger . Soo I woudl just shave and ftw bleaching is horrible its still noticable and looks weird if you have brown hair and a blonde mustache -_-

  40. Stefanie Aislinn Villegas says:

  44. Ellie says:

I recommend plucking for pre-teens and young teens. I started at twelve and it works for me, but it takes a while.

  45. Ddash says:

Um I have on the edges it’s noticeable by at the top near my nose it’s not unless you go all up on my face ,when I was going out with my ex when we would kiss I would feel so paranoid that he saw my stache but would never say anything UNTIL one day he actually wiped it off and that’s when I knew it was noticeable and UNDESirable so it feels so horrible and days pass and feel so insecure…I have heard of girls threading it BUT the girls doing it are the ones that don’t have any -_- I am 17 with dark almost jet black hair and my stache on the corners is like brown…I’m not worried about the pain of threading BUT about how long will it grow back ? And how often should I do it? Also … If I do that will you still see like the shadow …:( ?? Help! Ps.thing is I am not ugly but I have this thing that makes me feel like shit so it feels good to know others go through this ..my dad said it’s hormones So ladies stop eating that fried chicken now lol! Help me tho :(

  48. Melissa says:

Someone please help me i am really scared I am a girl who stupidly shaved her peach fuzz and I don’t want to grow a mustache like a man! I am made fun of everyday at school for stupid reason’s and I don’t want to be called a boy! I decided to shave my peach fuzz but I didn’t know how to at the time I though you had to shave it with a razor so I “stupidly” did and know I am reading everyone’s comments and I am glad that I am not the only one but I told my mother and she was very upset and she suggested she will “thread” it when it grows out again idk if that will work but I just hope it will go back to my regular “peach fuzz” instead of it being dark and hairy and etc like a man’s mustache. I should of consaulted with my mother first before I did it because she works at a salon and she does threading and waxing and she knows whats best for skin care and everything but I am just scared because I don’t want it to look like a mans mustache and I don’t want to keep threading it over and over again! Ugh my life is rulined if It doesn’t fix!!! If it does look like a mans and there is no way to wax or thread it if it will be there again thicker then I probably will have sergery when I am older…. :( and for anyone that is reading this DO NOT SHAVE IT WILL BE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IN YOU LIFE :’( if anyone knows anyway to get rid of it PLEASE tell me… thanks!
