I have been hearing about this StriVectin SD cream for quite some time now. Reportedly it is the best selling stretch mark and anti-aging over the counter lotion available.
Well with claims like that, I can almost forgive the price tag. Almost. The only problem is I have been in this beauty business too long to fall for the advertising hype just yet, if it works then I don’t mind shelling out $63 dollars for 2 ounces of product. But given my gut to product ratio I am going to need some feedback before I invest.
On top of magically reducing stretch marks StriVectin also claims to reduce the length, depth and volume of wrinkles. Here’s a direct quote:
“StriVectin SD was originally developed to repair stretch marks but has grown in popularity as a wrinkle reducing cream and claims of being “Better than Botox.” “

Well that pretty much seals the deal, if I was a cat I would be sitting here dead! My curiosity has reached it’s peak! Has anyone tried this stuff? Does it work?

Hmmmm….I’ve used this stuff……with the advice from my brother in law……..suppose to work wonders….for someone with years upon years of stretch marks…this does not work! I might however work if you have fresh stretch marks……
I used the stuff for over a year on my face and stretch marks. I did not see one bit of difference. I also tried Hylexin under eye cream for dark circles at $95.00 a tube. No changes in my eyes at all.
What about bio-oil or Mederma anybody?? I would love to get rid of belly stretch marks!
Avon came out with a new stretch mark cream…..I’m going to give it a try….I’ll let you how it goes!
I used this for about 6 months and paid 135.00 fort it too.
No difference in any marks on my face. What a rip off.
The new wrinkle filler from Olay works much better.
I haven’t tried StriVectin SD, but about 3 weeks ago my boyfriend bought me Mederma Cream with sunscreen. I have been using it on my stretch marks and c-section scar and although I’m not using it 3x a day like the directions say, I have noticed a difference. The stretch marks have tightened up and my horrible scar has reduced. I would suggest spending the $40 bucks for it. I am defineately happy. Hell I know they won’t completely dissappear, they are scars from the skin literally ripping, but I’m absolutely happy with them being reduced.
I spent a small fortune on this product both the Strivectin for stretch marks and also the Strivectin formulated especially for under the eyes and let’s just say I won’t be investing in it anymore. I have seen no difference in either area using this product. I have used less expensive products from drug stores and have had better results. =(
Great strivectin shopping website.
i bought the strivectin, and been using it religiously every day for the last couple of weeks, and i do see a great diffrence!!!
i’ve bought other products that my friends believes in, and works for them….but not me,
so some products work for u, and some dont.
i had to learn the hard way $$$
but am so happy that ive found something that works for me! yay!!!
these creams don’t work.Once your skin is broken ,it’s done.
There is actually a big problem with srivectin. yes it does work, really. but the people/manufacutures who deliever the product to a macy’s, saks, any larger department store dont stick around for long. there is a method of using the product. you seriously need to rub this lotion in like no other. really rub, in every direction and apply some good pressure. really rub! i mean sit there for about 15 minutes and apply pressure and go every direction. you will make your skin warm and you may feel a little irritated but it will subside within minutes. the consumers that get the most benefit from this product are people just developing stretch marks, people noticing stretch marks from growth, or pregnancy.
i work within macys and saks. trust me ive talked to the manufacture’s some sales associates just want your sale and dont expain, they dont have the best directions on the box which i think they should improve.
ALSO A GOOD TIP:
for those who buy perfume, creams, like srtivetin from costco or sam’s club, beware. the reason you find them much cheaper than in the boutiques, or department stores is because they were pulled from the stores and sold to costco because they are reaching their pull date. just bite the bullet and pay the full price. its worth it. dont be cheap when it comes to your skin!!!
sorry this is so long but people need to know!
In the past, I have only been able to find StriVectin at GNC and could never bring myself to pay so much for this product. I’ve known about it since I briefly worked at GNC in 2005 and this stuff was kept under lock and key. Plus only 1 customer bought it back then, so I was skeptical.
So I bought Mederma instead, for about $21. It said to use for about 3-6 months on existing scars. I’m not trying to be stretch mark free here, but my trouble area is my bicep inner arm area. I figure I can at least get rid of those and wear sleeveless shirts with more confidence. So, I used Mederma for like 3 times the recommended period- about 1 year and a half usually twice daily. It worked as well as it could I think… my stretch marks really faded but I don’t think Ive reached the true potential. It made my skin peel a lot, so maybe it was taking off layers to clean the area.
Lucky for me, I found StriVectin for $24 at Marshalls yesterday (the cosmetics section had about a dozen)! It expires 05/2010, so I figure I have one year to use it and at a way cheaper cost! We’ll see if it works.
If you got strech marks and they are old, nothing but lazer or tummy tuck sergery will help with it. Belive me!
i work as a polynesian dancer at a luau in hawaii, which requires me to show my stomach. in order to return to work i need the least amount of stretch marks possible. while pregnant i tried everything to prevent stretch marks. i ate the right way, i excercised, i didn’t scratch, and i used cocoa butter PLUS vitamin E oil twice a day. i was stretch mark free until the last three weeks until my due date. i guess no matter what i did, the genes that run in my family were too strong. after i stopped breast-feeding [which was a month after i gave birth] i began using strivectin. used it religiously, but occasionally missed an application or two. i began to see a difference in less than a month, so i was extremely happy that it worked well with my body. after that month i became tired of putting on the creme so much and wanted to see if it really made a difference, so i stopped applying. my stretch marks became sunken in, purple, and just nasty. they went back to the way they were supposed to be i guess. now i’m using strivectin again and i’m beginning to see the difference once more.
thank you so much danielle for your tips! i’ll try my best to do what you said, and hopefully it works wonders! i think everyone just needs to know that all women are different, and what might work for one person might not work for another. look around, do your research, spend the money if you find it’s worth it, and stick to the instructions. i hope my stretch marks reduce a lot, and i hope you all find something that works for you too!
I’ve been using Strivectin for two years now and see a huge difference in my skin. I am a major skeptic, but after deliberating this purchase for about a year, I finally tried the product. I purchase it directly from the manufacturer and it’s cheaper than purchasing it in the store. I use the Strivectin and the eye cream consistently twice a day (am & pm) and have seen my fine lines disappear. I’m in my mid-forties, fit and I like to be in the sun (but I wear sunscreen regularily). My Mother who I see about 4 times a year, was the first person who noticed the wrinkles had disappeared around my eyes and forehead. The six ounce tube and small tube of eye cream last me about six months. I’m pretty pleased with this product and will continue to use it.
I tried the eye cream and the regular SD cream purchased from Macy’s. I was hoping for the best but after trying several different high end products over the years I was not too optimistic. It has only been 2 weeks and I cannot say I notice much difference in my eyes YET but I DEFINITELY notice a difference in the skin on my face. A definite improvement in tone and texture and a genuine glow. I am now very optimistic for results to be seen in the 8 weeks the box outlines. I do not know if the StriVectin sold at CostCo is the same. The Macy’s one says 8% active ingredients where the CostCo one says 5%. I have also been told that while the cream was initially marketed for stretch marks it has really come to be more of a wrinkle cream. I was also told that you need to use the products twice a day to get the before and after effects you see in the pictures.
