I guess I should preface this by saying I’m a stone cold sucker for America Ferrera. She’s adorable. Yet, despite my unyielding affection for the star of Ugly Betty, I often let out a big “ehhh” when I spy pics of her at events because of her tendency to look matronly. Personally, I think a young starlet should look, well, young.
And young she looked in her ensemble at the Met Costume Institute gala. This dress by Phi is both flattering and youthful–the cap sleeves really balance her petite hour glass figure, and the empire waist totally lengthens her. I love the slate hued under-layer of the dress, which takes the edge off the black. Well done, America, well done.
My one quibble with this look is the hair. Yawn. I’m so over the too perfect prom hair with slick, side-swept bangs. Bor-ing. I want to mess it up a little–an act that would shave about ten years off of her appearance.
