In the World of Beauty this Week

If you’re looking for ways to do your part to help conserve our precious resources (in Los Angeleswater!), want to cut down on the amount of bath products you use, or want smooth hair and skin….LATimes.com recommends the Jonathan Beauty Water shower filter created by the good-looking yet whiny Jonathan Antin from Bravo’s reality show “Blow Out.”

“As you may have heard, California is in the midst of a drought. The Metropolitan Water District, the agency that supplies Southern California with its drinking water, recently said it may have to reduce water deliveries to the Los Angeles area by 15% to 25%. Now while this is disturbing news that threatens the region’s economy and very ecology, more critically, it spells trouble for your coiffure.”   EEEK!

    Best On-The-Go Razor Ever

You know the process-get out the shaving cream, thoroughly wet your legs, shave, and then moisturize.  I don’t know your process but it seems like every time I realize-”Crap! I need to shave me legs,” I am in a mad rush.  We all know what happens when you don’t take the time to properly wet, lather, and moisturize your legs before and after you shave?  You end up with dry, chaffed legs, but hey! they are shaved after all.  Right?  Wrong!  I have found the perfect solution- the Schick Intuition Razor.  It lathers and shaves in one easy step.  I truly love it and I know you will too!  In fact, I found I shave more now that I know it won’t take long. This razor is great for the on-the-go life we all live.  Has anyone else used this amazing products?

Tinge Razor and Vibrator - Ouch

Tinge Razor - Discount Shaving & Hair Removal Okay so I don’t get it? Why would you want a vibrator that also serves as a triple blade razor!! UMMM - HELLO!!

That combination is the stuff of nightmares!!  I am somewhat sleep deprived right now so maybe in my oxygen deprived brain I am NOT picking up on the concept of this thing?

Is it a razor or is it a vibrator? Or is it both?

It’s called the Tinge Razor ($ 125) and I believe the concept is to “publicly-hide” if you will your pleasure gizmos. Which is pretty cool in a James Bond sort of way but again I ask, “if it is a fully functional razor, why would I want that anywhere near my hoo-ha in any pleasurable capacity?”

I’m going to have to pass, no offense. I would rather have my mom discover my naughty drawer than run the risk of butchering my lotus flower.. just saying.

Check out the Tinge Razor for yourself, what do you think?

Too Much Tanning - Not Healthy - Beauty News at Smarter Beauty News

Okay let’s all let out a collective gasp - ready? — Ahhhhhhh!!!

Did you guys know that all a TAN represents is nothing more than damage to the skin. It is the body trying to defend itself against an environmental hazard — too much UV light..

So as it turns out the saying “The only safe tan is a fake tan” is actually true and not some clever marketing tagline for tanning products. Now if only artificial tanning products could perfect the process without turning out orange.  * sighs*

Tips on How to Treat and Prevent Bikini Razor Burn

How to Prevent & Treat Bikini Razor Burn - Smarter Beauty Blog I am actually a wax girl myself, but there are times when you are in a pickle and need to get rid of the growth stat!

Also, let’s face it waxing can get pricey and some women just don’t need to do it in order to achieve silken smoothness. I am not one of those women. The reason I choose to wax is because whenever I shave I tend to get bikini razor burn. I think my bikini skin is too sensitive or I just wasn’t doing it right.

Well time heals all wounds and I have learned a tip or two since then. Check out these tips and spare yourself the bumpy, ugly and not to mention embarrassing mess.

Tips on how to shave your bikini area:

    1. Always use a new razor.
    2. Shave as soon as you get into the shower/bath. Do not “soak” in water as this gives time for your skin to absorb the moisture and swell up.
    3. Shave the bikini area first so that the razor is sharpest.
    4. Apply your favorite shaving gel, home-made secret mix, etc. Give it plenty of time to sit on the skin before shaving.
    5. After shaving, apply an after shaving treatment that contains lidocaine.
    6. Avoid friction from tight clothing or human contact immediately after shaving.
    7. If bumps surface, don’t squeeze them or pick at them. Use Neosporin or similar product to heal them faster.

    * Infant’s diaper rash cream will get rid of razor burn quickly — apply it over an existing rash or where you fear one might develop.*

     Product Tips:

I pooled my girlfriends and they came up with the following suggestions:

Razors - men’s razors are apparently nicer - try the Mach 3 - has more blades and gives a nice, clean shave.

or my sensitive skinned ladies suggested…

Shick Intuition Plus Razor - it apparently provides sensitive skin with shea butter, aloe and vitamin E. I think it creates it’s own lather so you don’t need to buy a separate shaving gell or foam.

That should help. Also, if I missed any key tips to avoid or treat bikini razor burn - feel free to share your tips with the rest of us! :)
