Flirty Feminine Fragrances: Spell Romance with Your Scent

Posted October 26, 2009 by elena vosnaki

What should women and men look for in a flirty fragrance? This is the million dollar question! But imagine: If there were a universal elixir that would guarantee victory at the love battlefield, it could be a curse in disguise; your secret weapon would not be so secret any more, since everyone would be wearing it, thus rendering it ineffective! Still, there are some guidelines in place when choosing a flirty fragrance for a romantic tete-a-tete, although those are less strict than you might think.

    Woman Spaying Sexy Perfume On

A fragrance to entice a potential or existing partner should be something to stir the imagination, beckoning closer to discover things hinted at but not outright revealed and to be memorable. Therefore it should leave a subtle trail behind (in French industry -speak this is called sillage ~pronounced see-yazh), but not a hurricane! Whether it would be fresh, floral, oriental or woody is more a matter of personal taste, as within each fragrance family there are elements which contribute to a seductive hint. The received wisdom lots of women adhere to that vanilla is an aphrodisiac for men (and it does please some of them) should not be taken too literally, nevertheless: too sweet or food-smelling concoctions might make him feel like you’re more suited to baking him a pie than making love to! Vanilla and foody smells however might play a role in your flirty fragrance, but shouldn’t single-handedly be identified as such. There is something to be said about the complexity of the perceived aroma, which should create a question: What is this exquisite smell and who is that person smelling of it?

Last but not least, ultimately the fragrance which makes you confident in yourself ~whether you are a man or a woman~ is the best ammunition in the romantic game. It will make you feel sexier and more daring, ensuring that you feel fabulous no matter what. For all practical purposes nevertheless here are three tried & true picks for flirty perfumes encompassing different styles, for women

Feminine fragrances to weave a romantic web:

Narciso Rodriguez Narciso for Her: If one looks at the slinky yet timeless fashions of this Cuban-hailing designer, one can see why his first foray into fragrance catapulted it into the modern classics hall-of-fame. Narciso for Her is an indefinable and refined aura of musky and lightly ambery sexiness garlanded with abstract flowers that burst forth their freshness; like a sensuous person just out of the shower being the prelude for other activities, it signals courting!

Chanel No.5 Eau Premiere: When the iconic classic that Marilyn Monroe wore in bed, No.5, is given up an ingenious freshening up to suit younger ages and subtly differentiate itself from the familiar smell that is a great thing! No.5 Eau Premiere softens the characteristic aldehydes of the antecedent with piquant lemon and more vanilla in the base, yet retaining the sophisticated feeling, thus rendering it fit for the daughter or niece rather than the mother or aunt.

Christian Dior Hypnotic Poison: This fetishy, poisoned apple alluding to fairy tales and original sin is like an olfactory dessert testimonies of whose use ensure it works on guys like a magical charm! Milky almond bitterness and caraway folded into vanilla cream unfold against the floral hint of jasmine and the radiance of sensual musk. Arguably a long-standing best-seller for a reason, but you won’t regret choosing it.

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas: Vegan Friendly Travel Treats by Pacifica

Posted April 27, 2009 by desiree

Pacifica products are rad.  You can usually find some of their body butters, candles, or fragrances at your local Whole Foods markets and other fine establishments.  The prices range anywhere from $2 to $32 so when I found a few travel sets for a mere $14, I was surprised at the sweet deal.  A little history on these fabulously packaged goods:  Pacifica was founded in 1996 by a young surf couple Brook and Billy Taylor.  Inspired by nature and the ocean they spent so much time in, Brook began concocting her own fine fragrances with natural oils and ingredients and put them into candles.  Needless to say they were a hit and twelve years later, Pacifica is a thriving little company with excellent products that they stand behind.  The packaging (made with recyclable content) is eye-catching to say the least, using bold and bright patterns and colors, they are inspired by multiple elements including surfing, sunshine, travel, romance, history, world cultures, art, kids, and flowers.  The products are made with natural ingredients, essential oils, consumer safe, sustainable raw materials. The company itself has high standards for quality, fairness, safety, sustainability, and anti-cruelty–no animal ingredients are used so it would be safe to call this company vegan friendly.

I have tried several of Pacifica’s products including their solid fragrance, soap, candles and body butter.  The Mediterranean Fig and Tibetan Mountain Temple fragrances are among my favorites.  This past winter while shopping for Christmas gifts, I picked up a jar of the Winter Solstice Body Butter that smelled of lavender, bergamot, and cardamom.  I loved this stuff!  It was smooth and incredibly moisturizing, not greasy like many body butters out there.  I wore it all winter long and always received compliments on how great I smelled which leads me to the conclusion that when a company can perfect a body butter, you know their doing something right.

I’m planning on picking up a few of these Pacifica travel sets soon…they will make for perfect Mother’s Day gifts ringing in a great price, $14 sephora.com. I like the Tuscan Blood Orange, but it’s the Lotus Garden that is the newest scent addition to the family, smelling of lotus blossom, cassis, green violet leaf and pink pepper.  Packaged neatly in a beautiful box, the set comes with a soy candle, body butter, a solid fragrance  and some matches.  Mom will love it!

    Halle by Halle Berry

    Source

What more can we expect from Academy Award-winning, Halle Berry? This down-to-earth, new mother is sleighted to release her new fragrance, Halle by Halle Berry, in March. For over two years, Halle has been working at perfecting a fragrance that all women can benefit from. “For years I have created my own personal scents by mixing and layering fragrances, trying to come up with something unique and different. It’s a wonderful form of self-expression,” Halle says. Halle’s signature fragrance is said to capture “the spirit of a woman who is effortlessly stylish and elegant.” The spicy effect of the olibanum, an African root, and the smooth, woody aroma of sandalwood should make a great combination. You end up with a natural, sexy, smooth fragrance. Doesn’t that just sum up the epitome of Halle Berry? Halle has always won us over with her effortless style.  Can she win us over with her new fragrance? We shall wait and see.

My Fave Perfume of the Moment: Daisy by Marc Jacobs

Daisy by Marc Jacobs at Smarter.com

My current favorite scent is Daisy by Marc Jacobs! It’s light, sweet and refreshing. And its the first fragrance in a loooong time that has garnered me compliments, from MEN and women alike! That is perhaps the best indication of a truly great perfume. The worst would probably be public cringing and crinkling of noses as you pass by.

Anyhow Daisy is a really light and mellow floral fragrance. Official top notes are bright and fresh violet leaves and wild strawberries, milder subtle notes are of comfortable violet petals and jasmine bouquets, the foundation is feminine musk and vanilla infusion. Sounds like a whole lot is going on right? But it’s nice, believe me.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs retails from anywhere from $50 - $90 dollars depending on the size of the bottle and the merchant.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs Purse Spray with Refill

My suggestion if your hesitant to invest in a large bottle of the stuff is to purchase the MARC JACOBS ‘Daisy’ Eau de Toilette Spray which retails for only $40 dollars and comes with a refill and golden funnel. Truly adorable and perfect for your purse!
