    Beauty Blog Week in Review

Courtney Cox - Celebrity Trends - Crimson Lips Madonna - Celebrity Beauty - Crimson Lips Jennifer Lopez - Celebrity Trends - Crimson Lips

Personally I am a big fan of crimson lips! Not every girl can pull them off, but it’s the one thing I have always managed to pull off, ever since high school. It’s what I do when I want to feel strong and beautiful. The look takes more than a little moxy to pull off, especially if you have fairly plump lips like me, but when done correctly the look is classic.

Don’t go too dark lest you cross the line into Chola-ville and be sure to blend, blend, blend if you use a lipliner. I think strong lips should be paired with polished hair to look super sleek.

Example, let’s critique the cougars featured above:

Courtney Cox - the beach hair and oily skin, cancel out the power of red lips. She would have been better served with gloss or a nude lip here.

Madonna - Cougar hotness. She has always been one of my fave “Crimson lipped Divas”

Jennifer Lopez - Not digging it, her color and heavy eye makeup don’t mesh with the deep shade of red. She looks better sporting her signature nude lip look.

Eye Tattoos - Good God, Scary is an Understatement

Beauty Taboos - Eyeball Tattoos - Smarter Beauty Blog There I was quickly flipping through the boob tube, searching for something to watch … suddenly an image of a completely ebony eyeball popped onto the screen!!

This was not your run of the mill costume contact either, the program was about Cultural Taboos and I happen to catch the tail end of the EYE TATTOO segment!!! I believe it was on National Geographic Channel (which I love) and they have this segment on cultural taboos every Wednesdays at 10pm that highlights different practices from around the world that is often viewed as strange or down right grotesque.

Well I pride myself on being relatively liberal in all aspects of my life, and my stance on Beauty is very much “to each his/her own”. If it makes you feel beautiful and happy then by all means sport a bone threw your nose and rock your mullet! :) This doesn’t mean I am not shaking with laughter on the inside but I would NEVER infringe my idea of beauty on another.

That said, I do however have a huge aversion to anything that involves EYEBALLS!!!

Call me crazy but it just doesn’t seem like an object that requires much fussing with, am I wrong? And let’s be clear I don’t mean colored contacts or the assortment of make-up that adorns the outside of an eye. I am talking about tattooing and jewelry hanging from the irises!

WARNING! - the following images are not for the faint of heart, it makes even the hardcore cringe!

There is a video out there that shows the first ever eyeball tattoo being done and I seriously could not get myself to watch it! If you want to watch it for yourself click on this - Eyeball Tattoos on Youtube!

This is all I know about this procedure:

PERMANENT - as in you decide to do this during your rebellious years, when your 50 you will still be rockin’ your death eyes!

BLINDNESS - very real chance you could permanently destroy your retinas and go blind!

Honestly, I guess I am getting old because there is nothing about this that I don’t find horrific and nauseating. And I myself have several tattoos and have had assorted piercing in my day. Which wow seems like very small potatoes to the body modifiers of today.

What do you guys think? Am I an old biddy, or is this not the pinnacle of shocking?! - Michelle
