Super Dry Eyes? Relief at Last for Contact Lenses

Eye Drops for Dry Eyes - Low Priced Vision Care

I actually got Lasik done a year or so ago and while I love the results, I still tend to get DRY EYES!

And I remember when I use to wear contact lenses I really use to get very dry eyes. This is my own fault in a way because I was so insecure about showing people how thick my eyeglasses were that I would leave my contacts in forever! Sometimes if I slept over I would even sleep with them on! Really bad, I would literally have to peel them off my retinas in the morning…

Well I actually carry around portable re-wetting drops in my bag, I swear by Refresh Plus!

Discount Vision Care - Refresh Plus Rewetting Drops - Smarter Beauty Blog

Refresh Plus - Lubricant Eye Drops  - Price $5.97

Love, love, love these little buggers! I think they are a must-have for any contact or dry eye sufferer!

They are in these little portable vial that you can carry anywhere with you. I carry them in my pocket and they are literally available at my desk, in my car and all over my bathroom. :)

If you suffer from dry eyes you need to get a box, it’s the best thing you’ll ever do.

    Confessions of a Sunglasses Junkie

Discount Vision Care - Sunglass Display Case

Ask anyone who knows me, my one shop-a-holic weakness is designer sunglasses. I just can’t stop! My collection includes over 40 frames of Gucci, Chanel, Mark Jacobs, DvB, Prada….yadda yadda -  not to mention a ton of non-brand name frames that I just picked up here and there that I found adorable.

My sickness is getting out of control. Last year for Christmas, my cousin bought me an awesome sunglasses display case that lies flat, was silk lined and has a cover for storage and travel. Loves it! Only problem is my collection has surpassed the twenty slots available in that case and my sunglasses are now piling up.

So I did some online shopping and found this low priced sunglass display rack featured above. Ohhhh, I want it! I like the sleek and modern finish, it does not take up too much counter room AND holds 18 pairs. Plus it supposedly holds any size shades. ( I have maybe 3 styles of the Jackie-O large lense look that I have trouble storing in my current case) Price $45.00

Admittedly if you are not a fellow sunglasses junkie you don’t need all this posh and circumstance, BUT if you are, well then by all means join me in the hunt for the perfect sunglass display case! :)

Check out these low priced eyeglass cases or let me know if you guys found another great sunglasses display case for an affordable price!

Colored Contacts… Are they fooling anyone?

Colored Contacts - Vision Care- Heidi Klum & Paris Hilton

Actually these colored lenses featured on Heidi Klum and Paris Hilton are for Halloween and are therefore forgivable because they are meant for theatrical purposes and look great! (Well on Heidi Klum at least…)

But the inspiration for this post is for all those ladies and even gentlemen who rock colored lenses on the day to day. I just got back from China and the stewardess had thee cheesiest colored lenses on. The irony is I am absolutely certain she was not trying to sport obviously fake lenses for shock value or theatrical purposes but was genuinely trying to convince the populace at large that she and Elizabeth Taylor both were born with violet irises.

I found the whole thing so disconcerting that when she walked over to my seat to ask what I dinged her for, I completely forgot and instead stared blankly at her retinas. I bet she thinks people are so mesmerized by her fake purple eyes that they become speechless. Ummm - newsflash lady that is not the case! More like staring at a colored sphere floating over your natural brown eyes, you’re fooling no one.

I actually don’t have anything against colored lenses in general and in fact use to wear grey ones in high school. I guess my issue is when they don’t fit right and move and shift mid-conversation OR when the color is soooo unbelievably light or unique that you almost look like a cat or hypnotist.

PLUS - I think when colored lenses are combined with super dyed or fake hair, fake nails, fake tan, fake designer clothes… fake-fake-fake-fake… well the whole thing pretty much screams OVER KILL! No me gusto.

    Exhibit A:

Colored Contacts - Vision Care- Paris Hilton

By the way, did you guys know that Paris Hilton wears colored contacts and that her eyes are naturally brown! And is it just me or did she have work done on her nose? Mmmm, then again it could just be the natural progression of age. Maybe…

Anyhow, so what do you guys think? Do you like colored contacts?

Sexy Glasses - Who doesn’t like a HOT librarian?! Thank you Sarah Palin, Tina Fey and Lisa Loeb

    Sarah Palin and Tina Fey

Regardless of your personal opinion of the woman, you have to admit that Sarah Palin sports some seriously adorable spectacles.

Dynasty - Shoulder Pads- Feathered Hair - Celebrity Trends

Not since Dynasty debuted “shoulder pads” has my Mom and her swarm clucked so excitedly about an impending fad. Seriously my mom rocked both the jacket and the feathered do. To her credit she looked pretty good actually. Well as good as anyone can look in the 80’s. Well in case you are wondering, Sarah Palin reportedly sports Kawasaki 704 eyeglasses.

Ummm they are NOT cheap! Price runs from $450-$350

Also from an honest perspective even with condensed lenses I think the look only plays if you have a light to medium prescription. Prior to my Lasik procedure I use to sport some serious lenses. I always dreamed of wearing these dainty, frame less numbers but I ended up looking more like Piggy from Lord of the Flies. :(

Sarah Palin Eyeglasses - Smarter Beauty Blog

Sarah Palin rockin’ the Kawasaki’s! Plus you figure they have to be awesome if they help her see RUSSIA from ALASKA! Ziiinggg! ( I had too..)

Tina Fey Eyeglasses - Smarter Beauty Blog

Lisa Loeb - Sexy Eyeglasses - Smarter Beauty Blog

As for ME and my generation I have always LOVED Tina Fey and Lisa Loeb!

There is a serious shortage of beautiful and BRILLIANT role models. In a world full of Paris Hilton’s and Lindsay Lohan’s you must admit that the breeze of intelligent, be-spectacled brunettes is not only refreshing but sorely needed.

If I ever have a daughter all I want her to say is, “Mom, I want to be Tina Fey!” :) And I will die happy.

Now if the little munchkin says she wants to be Paris Hilton or any of her posse, I will gauge my eyes out and admit my failure as a parent…

    Sidenote:

Tina Fey and Lisa Loeb do not really stick to one particular brand of eyewear, so your best bet is to shop around for similiar pieces.

Eyelid Jewelry Contact Lenses - Just Plain Stupid!

Eyelid Jewelry Contact Lenses - Beauty News - Just Plain Stupid

Want to talk about stupid inventions? Then let’s talk about EYE JEWELRY!

Yes that’s right folks, you read right, jewelry for your EYES~!!! Can we say super yuck! I find it hard enough to touch the gelantinous part of my eye when I use to wear contacts, more so to have some stupid string with bedazzles hanging from my EYE!!

How is that beautiful? Or safe? The thought of going out with a string hanging out of my eye creeps me out to no end. Not to mention if something were to snag on it or pull it out?!! Arghhh!

Plus even in the promotional video the model can’t stop tearing. She is literally crying the whole time, the whole thing seems very painful and irritating..

Am I wrong guys? Would you actually wear these?

Eyeglasses on Celebrities - I like it!

Well I was reading fellow Beauty bloggers posts and came across this picture of Chloe Sevigny sporting eyeglasses at a PUBLIC event! I actually recently got Lasik done but when I did wear contacts slash eyeglasses I never went to parties or public forums wearing my eyeglasses. I think back on it and wonder why I never did?

I am by all means a fairly confident chick, yet I would not even let people I was dating see me in my glasses, hell some of my closest friends have yet to see me in eyeglasses. Well just so you know my prescription was out of control, even when I would purchase the super condensed lenses, when viewed from an angle you could still see the compacted levels of blindness. I think if I had a slight prescription I would have definitely sported my eyeglasses in public. That’s my story and I am sticking to it!

That said here are a few gorgeous celebs who aren’t afraid to rock out with their eyeglasses out!

    Chloe Sevigny Eyeglasses

    Quirky Chloe Sevigny

    Amanda Peet Eyeglasses

    Adorable Amanda Peet

    Cate Blanchette Eyeglasses

    The Incomparable Cate Blanchett

    Jennifer Garner Eyeglasses

Mrs. Ben Affleck - Jennifer Garner

    Kirsten Dunst Eyeglasses

Kirsten Dunst bugs me, she reeks of self-love…

    Lindsay Lohan Eyeglasses

Wow! She actually looks STD free with a pair of eyeglasses on, Ha! Ms. Lindsay Lohan

    Sharon Stone Eyeglasses

Sharon Stone - gotta say I prefer when she dresses her age! Plus eyeglasses is a great way to conceal wrinkles and dark circles, not that she has many…

Moral of the Story Girls -

Learn from other women’s mistakes and be brave enough to show the world your gorgeous bespectacled selves. If I had it to do over I would have worn my Buddy Holly specs out much more than I did! :(

    Buddy Holly Eyeglasses

I still think these are the hottest eyeglasses out there!

Tax Stimulus Refund - Time to Spend $600 Dollars

Tax Stimulus Refund - Beauty Spending

Yesssss!! I just received the much talked about Stimulus Tax Refund, and I feel it is my civic duty to boost the economy and spend every last cent. Sure, I could use the money to pay off a nice chunk of a credit card or do the responsible thing and stick it in my dwindling savings account but you and I both know that I shall re-circulate that six hundred dollars back into our American economy. So let’s get to the crux of the matter, what to spend it on?

    Korean Massage Sign

    1. Korean Spas & Massages

Well I was recently introduced to the hidden realm of the Korean spas by my friend Kyung. Once you get over the blatant nudity and hard core “full body loofah” scrub it’s actually an awesome deal and every time I leave my whole body feels like butter. I recommend the: Olympic Spa in Los Angeles Read reviews on Yelp so you are prepared for the “culture shock” but it’s a definite “must do” if you have never gone.

Gold Makeup - Cosmetics and Makeup

    2. Cosmetics & Makeup

I have been wanting to buy a gold eyeshadow of some sort. Not sure what brand yet, but gold eyeshadow. Anyone have any recommendations?

    Dita Sunglasses - ShopBop.com

    3. Sunglasses in Vision Care

I have been browsing this pair of Dita Sunglasses called “Xanadu” from ShopBop.com. I like the style and color, I like over sized frames and colors that are not common. These sunglasses cost $350.00! For that price I hope they instantly transform me into this model, but I have to admit designer sunglasses is my shopping weakness.

So far that’s what I plan on spending my Tax Refund on … what are you going to buy with your six hundred dollars?
