Winter Hair Color - Time to go RED, maybe Burgundy

I can’t recall when or where I heard it but someone once told me that; in the summer you highlight or dye your hair lighter shades whilst in the fall and winter seasons most women go deeper and darker.
Makes sense the funny thing is that ever since I heard that rule of thumb, the rebel in me tends to lean the other way and I often do the reverse. I often dye my hair lighter in the winter and dark in summer and spring. Kooky, huh?
Well I have been feeling that itch again, I am thoroughly sick of my current shade. I want to go red! Only drawback is red is notorious for fading and I am not a big fan of the “Oompa Loompa” orange shade Asian hair tends to turn when you attempt to go red. I am a fan of the deep plum tones and I think I look best in Burgundy wine shades. Goes well with my skin tone and what not.
So here’s a little hair color secret from me to you!
My favorite shade and at home color result is - Feria by Loreal hair color in Burgundy!
Every time I crave a reddish change, I go to my local Target and pick up two boxes. Turns out nice every time. The shade varies based on how light my hair was prior to application but in every case the shade is rich and I am often complimented.Of course, the shade like all reds needs some pampering but what are you gonna do?!

Don’t wash your hair as much. and use a color care shampoo and conditioner. semi-permanent fades faster use a permanent color. Your hairdresser may use a filler depending on the porosity. The only diff between a semi and a pemanent color is about 2 wks. But really red is so 90s. Mocha’s are really in rt now they have a reddish tint. Redken colors or logics i think r the best.

I have been a Hairdresser in Beverly Hills for 20 years. And NO I do not have any ties with this company. But when I was a young pup at the vulnerable Elizabeth Arden Salon on Rodeo Drive, we used to have quite a few traveling cognescenti who invariably brought their own colour. If I knew their hair was tinted I could spot a Framesi ( Italian) Colour from across the room! It was not available in America then. Because of a “one of kind” dye molecule unmatched by any other company to this day. And the “stay” power of the reds was amazing ,. And the trademark shine of children’s hair ( that lasts)) still is an industry standard. It does have it’s drawbacks. It is strictly for advanced colourists in my opinion, hard to mix and duplicate compared to say Goldwell or Wella with a million reds…..it is richer, deeper and behold the shine. It is also worth the money, the time it takes to find a good colorist who uses Framesi. I would like to think that Ferria is a good substitute but it is not. You wear your hair everyday, it’s the last place to economize. And with eBay and an LA Goodwill, pricey couture clothing needn’t be, spend it on your hair. Great hair, clean oval buffed nails, a pair of Prada loafers, an old cashmere sweater, a 3 dot White Tee Shirt and some 501’s and say a cropped Pea-Coat……..that’s my inturpetation of forever stylish. Afterall, style……..it’s your rebirth right.

I use herbal essences hair dye and have for years to dye my hair red. I used Feria once and the color was gorgeous but it faded really quickly compared to when I use herbal essences.

Well, all I know is that the girl in the first pciture is Caridee from I forgot what cycle of ANTM! She looks beautiful but I mean WTF with the hair? That is a little wacky to me and should onlyn be done if absoulutley have to because it makes the photo shot look really really really really bad!

Still with why reds fade…shampoo before and condition and dry your hair…put the colour on the scalp …spray the ends with a spray conditioner (Redken -PPT) and pull colour out through the ends…process 30-40 mins. Rinse only …Use a Red Colour Conditioner every week following the colour service. Use a good shampoo and be sure to use a good conditioner for moisture…when the hair is dry the colour shampoos down the drain faster…15 year colourist on Rodeo Drive…XOXO
