MAC Tendertone Lipbalm in Sweet and Nice

“We’ve found an interesting compromise in M.A.C’s Tendertone Lipbalm in Sweet & Nice. It looks surprisingly harmless and gloss-like in its teensy glass jar, but the sheer grapey-red looks so grown-up we can’t help but be reeled in. To date we’ve yet to have a complaint in the flaking department, it has SPF 12, and the wide range of colours all seem very flattering. ” - Lipstick Powder n Paint Blog

Sex and the City the Movie - Extended Cut - New Released So I realize that the release of Sex and the City the Movie - “The EXTENDED Cut” may not quantify as a beauty update but  should maybe be categorized under “electronics” or something…

Well to those naysayers I say, “eat poop”.

The release of Sex and the City the movie is most definitely a beauty release. Even if you are not a fan of the original fab 4, no one can deny their impact on fashion and beauty.

I for one am a huge fan of the cougars. I think they are divine and simply “FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC”!!

I watched the movie twice when it was in the theaters (which on a bloggers salary is plenty!!)  and I can’t wait to purchase the extended DVD.

It’s currently on sale at Amazon $22.99 (you save $11.99 - 34% off)

Bobbi Brown Shimmering Nudes Collection - Cosmetics & Makeup News

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is known for their sheer natural colors, so when they released their new “Nudes Collection” I had to blog about it.

    Here’s the word:

“Shimmering Nudes Palette flatters all complexions and has everything you need to create Bobbi’s look of the season. A combination of flat, sheer shimmer and high shimmer shades softly illuminate the eyes while a dark matte liner shade adds drama.”

    Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

Personally I could stand to purchase another makeup palette that contains a good group of “natural” hues I can use everyday.

Moisturizers that Work on Sensitive, Rosacea-Prone Skin

Posted August 26, 2008 by jeanie kwak
Found in: Beauty Tips & Secrets, Skin Care

Recently I switched moisturizers. My skin acted a little puzzled at first and now it’s not behaving. Not that it’s throwing a tantrum. It’s just, well, sort of indifferent. I had splurged on a more expensive French line (that will remain nameless) and the cheaper brand that I usually buy at my local drugstore is far superior. So I’m switching back.

    Eucerin Co-Enzyme 10

What is that moisturizer? Why, it’s Eucerin Coenzyme 10, of course! (Nivea Coenzyme 10 cream is great too). Coenzyme 10 is a powerful antioxidant that protects you from those pesky free radicals. It’s also a compound that is made naturally in the body. The body uses it for cell growth and also to protect cells from damage that could lead to cancer. As you age, your levels of this compound decrease. So it’s beneficial to your skin to apply it. When I used it, I would wake up to smooth, even-toned skin. My sensitive, rosacea-prone skin just drank it up.

    Korres Rose Cream - Sephora

I’m also really missing Korres Rose Cream. I adore the smell and it gave my skin an even-ness that I really want back. If you find Korres a bit pricey, then buy the sample kit which includes the serum, the cream and the mask. All for $30 at Sephora.

I also received an email from DHC, a Japanese skin-care line that sells gentle, good-for-you skin products. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE their coenzyme 10 cream. I received a sample of it and literally, overnight, my skin looked phenomenal. Enough so that my boyfriend commented that my skin looked beautiful that morning. So can you believe that they are selling a great travel kit that includes their best selling olive soap, Coenzyme 10 cream, milk, and spray for $24.00? Oh my lord, I whipped out my credit card so fast, that Clint wouldn’t have had anything on me. Get on that, ladies!

I need a drink! But this Cosmo Cocktail Lip Balm will do…

Cosmo Cocktail Lip Balm - Beauty Products

MONDAYS, blah and I’m done. :(

I hate MONDAYS!  It’s like the moment I stepped in here all the happy feelings and good times that occurred on the weekend immediately dissipated, and what was left was a gloomy Monday, chalk full of work and yecks. Sighs.

The only thing I could think of during times like this is … a DRINK! I don’t know what that says about me but it’s the truth. Since I can’t whip out a pink hued Cosmopolitan at my desk without drawing judgmental stares I decided to settle for the next best thing.

Cosmo Cocktail Lip Balm  - $5.00

Now unfortunately there is a touch of false advertising in the title since the actual product does not contain any actual alcohol. What it actually has is a delicious  soothing lip balm in sweet cranberry flavor.

Ingredients: Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Almond Oil), Cocos Nucifera Oil (Coconut Oil), Persea Gratissima (Avocado Oil), Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Tocopheryl (Vitamin E) and Kettle One Vodka.

(Ha! I’m only kidding about the last ingredient, I wish. )

Nose and Ear Trimmer - If Your Man HAS IT, Buy it!

Vince Vaughn Nose Hair - Nose and Ear Trimmer - Smarter Beauty Blog

I think the photo above was suppose to highlight a rumored nose job on the part of Vince Vaughn  but more importantly, it features his raging NOSE HAIR!! - barf!

I had no idea that Vince Vaughn had a case of  “Wooly Mammoth” nose. Ugh! I actually thought he was sort of cute but umm no thanks. I can’t deal with nose and ear hair. Can you imagine if it is that bad now, how bad it will be as he gets older, zoinks.

Well the whole thing got me thinking about purchasing a nose and ear trimmer for my man. You think that’s rude? He doesn’t really have a hair problem but I figure best to train him now so it doesn’t become an issue down the line. I like this Nose & Ear Trimmer from Brookstone.

Brookstone - Nose and Ear Trimmer - Smarter Beauty

Nose & Ear Trimmer costs only $35.00

(Click on the image or the link above if you are interested)

The way I figure, it’s affordable and he shouldn’t be offended. And if he is, it makes us just about even for purchasing me a 24 hour fitness gym pass last year!!

    Oh I also found this:

Finger Nose and Ear Trimmer - Smarter Beauty Blog

Ummm, WTF! I am rarely at a lost for words but are you kidding me with this? Why would you want a finger shaped nose and ear trimmer. Looks like something else to be honest.

    What do you guys think?

    And I’m done. :)

    Marc Jacobs Daily Intense Perfume

Marc Jacobs Daily Intense - Perfume

Daisy perfume by Marc Jacobs was one of my favorite new scents last season.  Well now Marc Jacobs has released…

Daisy Intense Eau de Parfum ($72)

“Daisy Eau de Parfum features the same notes as the original Daisy Eau De Toilette. It concentrates the fragrance’s essential oils for a luxurious sensation. The fresh, wild strawberry, violet leaves and ruby red grapefruit notes are softer, while the heart blooms with jasmine petals, violet petals and gardenia. The feminine florals blend seamlessly with the creamy musks, leaving an impression that is rounder, richer, and lusciously floral with a sophisticated touch.”

Sounds dreamy. I am going to have to see what this new stuff smells like since I liked the original version so much. Anyone try this yet? Is it good?

12,000 Calorie Daily Diet = Michael Phelps Abs, Yumm!

Michael Phelps - Daily Diet - Abs

Ummm.. so call me fickle but one of the most inspiring tales to come out of the Beijing Olympics is the epiphany of Michael Phelps daily calorie intake and how he still manages to have those ABS!!

Yeah, yeah I know the man has honed his body to a chiseled dreamy swimming machine but still, the sheer volume and “type” of food that Phelps consumes is staggering by any standards.

Keep in mind that the average recommended daily calorie intake is 2,000 calories. He consumes 12,000!

    Here’s the breakdown:

Breakfast: Three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions, and mayonnaise - two cups of coffee, a five-egg omelette, a bowl of grits, three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar and three chocolate-chip pancakes.

Lunch: a pound of enriched pasta and two large ham and cheese sandwiches slathered with mayo on white bread, capping off the meal by chugging about 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks.

Dinner: carbohydrate-rich foods—such as a pound of pasta and an entire pizza—which give him plenty of energy for his five-hours-a-day, six-days-a-week regimen. He washes all that down with another 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks.

    Whoa!!

Michael Phelps - Daily Diet - Abs - Olympic Champion

My point with all this is how amazing the human body is, like what a finely tuned machine it could become when necessary.  Granted his workout and diet are both EXTREME but the major lesson to walk away with is that you can allow yourself a few “extravagances” in diet as long as the ratio between “crap food” and “excercise” is 1:4. One part crap food, four parts exercise?

What do you guys think? Sound about right? Or is Michael Phelps just the exception to the rule?

P.S. - The lads face could use some work… but who is looking at his face! Hahahaha….

Sandy Allen - Deceased - The world's tallest woman - Afrobella

Rest in peace Sandy Allen! :) The world’s tallest woman recent passed away at the age of 53 …

“At age 10, Sandy Allen was 6 foot 3. By sixteen, she had crested 7 feet. At her tallest she was 7 feet, 7 inches tall and was recognized as the world’s tallest female. She passed away today, at the age of 53.

In 1974, she wrote to Guinness World Records in an effort to befriend someone she could identify with.

“It is needless to say my social life is practically nil and perhaps the publicity from your book may brighten my life,” she wrote.

I guess the recognition brought her out of her shell. According to the AP, Allen came to celebrate her height, and she “appeared on television shows and spoke to church and school groups to bring youngsters her message that it was all right to be different.”
