Beyonce made a trip to Milan last week to help celebrate the launch of Empario Armani’s new Diamond scent at Rinascente’s flagship in Piazza Duomo on in Milan, Italy. The company’s press release says the new perfume is an “irresistibly feminine fragrance” with a wonderful combination of woods and amber mixed with lychee and raspberry.”

Must Have Makeup: the Everyday Face

The other day a friend told me she could live without any cosmetics but her lipgloss, which I found funny since I almost never sport the stuff. It did get me thinking, though, about my makeup drawer, which is over-stuffed despite the fact that I only use a fraction of its contents. I would, of course, never throw any of it out because who knows when the perfect occasion for teal eyeshadow might arise? It could happen.

At the same time, I don’t think I could narrow it down to any one product–I have a few major makeup loves/dependencies. I’m sure I’ve mentioned all of them at one time or another. Here’s the rundown:

Lorac aquaPrime ($30) is, hands down, my favorite primer because it’s very light and super effective. I am about to get hooked up with the new liquid primer from Smashbox, though, so we’ll see if I stay devoted to Lorac. I’ll keep you posted.

I’ve been a satisfied user of Revlon ColorStay foundation for a long time now, and I don’t see myself giving up on it any time soon.  I really love the new Soft Flex line in the dry skin formula, since the older I get the dryer my skin gets.

Oh, Lorac Sheer Wash ($17.50), how do I love thee.  Honestly, I don’t think any other cheek stain even sort of compares in terms of color or endurance. It’s like instant pretty.

I feel like I’ve done a thousand posts about Clinique True Bronze Bronzer.  I guess I just can’t say enough about it.  I ran out recently and started using some free junk I had in that stuffed up drawer, and that mistake has made me love my Clinique even more. If that’s possible.

I am of the opinion that loose powder is loose powder, and you shouldn’t blow a lot of money on it. I’m using Cover Girl ($10.27) right now because it was on sale at CVS, so it’s more the category of translucent powder that I can’t live without more than any brand.

Oh Almay ($13.65), my friend, what would I do without you (when did this post turn into an ode?!)?  Like I said in my recent “how to” post about liquid eyeliner, Almay makes the grade.  My only advice is to break in the wand on your hand before your first use because it’s just too pointy to be affective right out of the package.

Kylie really wants us to smell like her. She’s about to release her third fragrance, Showtime, which is supposed to represent her vivacious stage personality. Word has it that it will be fruity, mixing strawberry and loganberry with florals, sweet licorice and pralines . It’s set for a February release in the UK, but it’s unclear when it will surface in the U.S. Sit tight, Kylie fans.

    MAC and Fafi Join Forces

Ooh, fun news! French artist Fafi, whose made a name for herself in the graffiti and more lofty fine art scenes, is teaming up with MAC cosmetics.  Fafi’s female characters are tough and sexy, which works quite well with the MAC aesthetic, no? The collection is slated for a February release and is sure to sell out.

The packaging looks fantastic. I can’t wait.

    How to Curl Hard-to-Curl Eyelashes

Posted December 12, 2007 by valentina
Found in: Beauty Tips & Secrets

Call it a blessing or a curse but I was born with some thick, long eyelashes. I know that sounds like a dream come true, and it would be if they weren’t also straighter than straight. Yes, for the longest time, I’ve just let them be themselves, cascading downward at all times. I felt there was no hope until recently when I decided to do some research and experimentation.

Here’s what I tried this weekend, and it worked:

    1. Set Your Lashes with Mascara - Okay, so I know everyone always says not to do this because your lashes might get stuck and pulled from the root, but if you’re careful, it shouldn’t be a problem. Plus, if your lashes are as hard to curl as mine, then they will laugh in the face of your silly beauty tools if they’re not set first.
    2. Heat the Eyelash Curler - Ah, yes, this is a well-known trick. Just blast some warm air from your blowdryer onto your curler. Of course, since you’re going to used it near your eyes, make sure it’s not ridiculously hot.
    3. Clamp Down Near the Root First - If your lashes are crazy long, there will be a two-clamp process for each lash. Start close to your eyelid first and clamp down for a good 5 seconds. Now, they are probably standing straight up. So, go down a bit and repeat the process.
    4. Use an Eyelash Comb - Declump any mascara clumps with a handy dandy eyelash comb.

Take your time, be careful, and good luck!

    Babuca Elite Magnassager=Holiday Bliss

As fun and exciting as the holiday season can be, for many people it comes with a hefty dose of stress. The parking lots, the crowded shops, the family get togethers, the guessing what everyone wants…it can be intense. One of the best solution that I know for the resulting tension and exhausted muscles is the Babacu Elite Magnassager ($89.85), a hand held massager that puts all others to shame. It also makes a fabulous gift, so it relieves that stress too.

The Babacu Elite Magnassager has a lot of perks. I like the gentle circular kneading action and the removable handle that makes it so easy to use on yourself or treat someone else to a massage. It’s also very cool that this massager’s pulse is designed to mimic the human heartbeat. How relaxing is that?

You’ll be stress-free, at least until next December.

Get yours at Mercantila for $89.95 (5% off for those who choose their flexible financing plan).
