    Change Your Skin Regimen

Not satisfied with your skin? Maybe it’s time for a new regimen.

For years I washed my face with skin cleansers like the basic Neutrogena bar (about$2.99) and loved the results, but as I got older and my oil glands stopped working overtime, I noticed my face was as dry as a desert. I was getting flaky skin and breaking out big time. I just didn’t get it.

Then, while I was interviewing a well-known dermatologist for an article I was writing, she said something that stuck with me: your skin changes as you age. Duh. She said some women buy products for oily skin until they’re 65 because a cosmetic counter lady told them they had overactive glands when they were 15. Hello, everyone’s greasy at 15.

So, that started me thinking, and I realized that since my grease-ball status had expired, I had to find a new way to clean my face. I tried lots of soaps for dry skin, but none of them worked for me (which is not to say that they won’t work for you). So, I decided to go another route and now I’m into old fashioned Ponds Cold Cream ($5.74) to remove my makeup. My skin is now blemish free and there’s not a flake to be seen.

The lesson? You have to change your regiment as you age and your skin changes.

Lots of women I know agree and say that finding what does your skin good has a lot to do with trial and error. Some say you get what you pay for, and others (me included) say you might get more than what you pay for.

Here are some faves of girls I know:

    SkinCeuticals Simply Clean, $26

La Roche Posay Effaclar Toner Astringent Lotion, $18

Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser, $8.10

What’s your skin regiment? Tell us, and we’ll write a post about it.

Beautiful skin means healthy skin, and it can be yours by simply adopting an easy skin-care ritual. The basic steps to a flawless face consist of two key elements: cleansing and moisturizing on a regular basis.

    CLEANSING

Cleansing removes impurities from the skin’s surface and encourages a more radiant appearance.

When selecting the proper facial cleanser, it is important to be aware of the condition that your skin is currently…
