Newborns to Teens Need Double the Recommened Vitamin D
I read an article today on MSNBC.com that discusses the fact that pediatricians are now recommending double (400 units) the amount of vitamin D that has previously been recommended. There is evidence that this amount will help prevent serious diseases. This means that kids’ will have to take supplements according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. This could be annoying for kids if not presented properly by parents.
I’ve always thought the gummy ”candy” form is the best like these Yummy Bears. Here are a few options found on Smarter.com:
Yummi Bears Yummy Worms Sourz :$7.69
Yummi Bears Vegitarian Calcium w/Vitamin D: $11.34
Nutrition Now - Rhino Swirlin’ Calci-Bears with Vitamin D: $5.98
They say the best source is the sun, which I believe is a good reason why kids should be involved in outdoor activities or sports.

Have you read or did you hear about this couple who lost their three children in a traffic accident and are now expecting triplets!? I read the article on MSNBC.com this morning. How exciting for them and what a strange coincidence! In no way with the new little ones replace their lost children, but what a blessing!
