    Embarrassing Moments with a Baby

On Monday, Elisabeth Hasselbeck returned to The View after 10 weeks off with her newborn son Isaiah. She told a most hilariously embarrassing story:

“You know when your baby smiles for the first time … I reach for the iPhone — I had just been feeding him — and I took the photo,” she said. “He had this huge smile. Immediately I forward it to everyone on my family distribution list — my mom, my dad, my brother, Tim [Hasselbeck]’s dad, his brother, his mom, his other brother and I send it to myself. So I get home and open up the photo … Yeah, no wonder why he is smiling — because my nipple is in the photo!”

Eek! That would make me blush for sure. Every mom has an embarrassing story to tell from when they were adjusting to life with a newborn. My embarrassing story happened when my daughter was a few weeks old and our washer broke down. A very chatty repairman came over to fix it and I had not yet mastered the whole maternity bra-nursing pad thing yet. I was too polite to interrupt him when I felt myself get engorged, but the puddle I left at my feet pretty much said everything. I had to change clothes and clean the spillage up all with a bright red embarrassed face. He didn’t talk much after that!

    What’s your embarrassing story?

    Heidi’s Emmy Dress

During the Emmy’s on Sunday, everybody was talking about Heidi Klum. At 8 1/2 months pregnant Heidi walked the red carpet in a stunning evening gown by Marchesa. The dress was form fitting and hugged her very round belly.

Heidi told People Magazine: “The great thing about being pregnant and going to these things is that I don’t have to suck my stomach in. It’s fabulous! I can let it all out.”

Heidi said she didn’t put too much thought into prepping around her pregnancy for Emmys.

“It wasn’t really hard for me, but it was hard for the woman that designed a dress for me,” she laughed about going glam with the baby on board.

“She started about two or three months ago and that’s kind of difficult…It’s black because I figure, at eight-and-a-half months, black is better! I think it’s elegant and slimming.”

Do you have an important event to go to? You probably won’t be filmed live on television for millions of people but if you still want red carpet style, check out this dress. It’s got a similarly slimming shape as Heidi’s dress but the price is much easier to manage:

    Celine Dion’s Expanding Family

    First, side note…

This morning I was reading a review of the VTech V. Smile Motion Active Learning system over at celebrity-babies:

“For kids ages 4-7, the games are lessons in disguise: while my daughter was spending time happily bouncing the joystick from frame to frame, she was counting to 20, working through the alphabet and matching animal babies with the sounds they make. I read up on the different lessons, feeling happy that she was learning something and playing at the same time. She’s also really into the Disney Little Einsteins ($24.99) cartridge because it has all of the music and dancing that she enjoys in the show. We’re finding that the lessons are fun, integral parts of the games.”

The system is available on the VTech website for $60, but look! You can get it for $40! What a deal!

In other news, Céline Dion is expecting her second child. A rep for the 41-year-old singer confirmed the news to various outlets saying, “Céline and René are very happy,” and “They are crazy in love over the news … they are overjoyed.” Céline is reportedly due in May. Céline and her husband already have an 8 year old son, René-Charles. When I saw a picture of their son (who is really cute!) I was surprised to see his extremely long hair. What do you think, Moms? Would you let your son grow his hair that long?

Nicole Richie has joined popular maternity store ‘A Pea in the Pod’ to create her new fashion collection. Prices range from $48 for tank tops to $148 for maxi dresses. “Pea in the Pod is such a known company for pregnant women. They carry great lines, and so when they asked me to create a line for them, I was really excited and eager to do it,” Nicole told People magazine.

Nicole is known for her signature easygoing bohemian style. Pregnant women will find 14 pieces designed by Richie, including a flowy peasant top, maxi dresses, and tees with asymetric hems and braiding to flatter an expecting mom’s figure.

Richie explained, “You really feel like you have to change your whole wardrobe. And that’s the last thing a woman wants to go through. So I really tried to make this line to get women excited about wearing clothes.”

Nicole has one daughter, Harlow and is expecting her second child with boyfriend Joel Madden later any day now. She starred in the ad campaign for the apparel, which will only be available through the end of the year. Here are my favorites:

This would be adorable with jeans!

This gorgeous satin top could easily be dressed up or down!

Supermodel Cool for Kids: Get the Look for Less!

Cindy Crawford’s daughter is a stunning spitting image of her. At only 7 years old, Kaia has more style than most adults! This look is great inspiration for preteen girls heading back to school in the fall. Here are some budget friendly ideas to help your girls rock Kaia’s look:

    Fedora Extraordinaire: $5.99

The hat is probably the most important element of Kaia’s outfit. Most moms wouldn’t dream of spending much on such a “fluff” item like a funky hat, but this one is less than $11!

    Aqua Girls’ Boyfriend Blazer: $68.00

This is a great investment because it can be worn over and over again with countless different outfits.

Girls’ Mossimo Supply Co. Short-Sleeve Knit Top $8.99

I like that this tee has a simple design on the front, I think it keeps the whole outfit youthful.

    Gap Gray skinny jeans $34.50

Skinny jeans are all the rage with young ladies this year!

Girls Woven Ribbon Bow Flats: 19.99

Simple in design and the bow adds a splash of fun!

Kaia also has some really cool (and probably expensive!) necklaces on! I bet you moms out there have a bunch of old costume jewelry collecting dust! Why not let your daughters wear it? As long as you’re not loaning out sentimental or pricey stuff, why not?

Beyonce Takes Her Nephew Out and Shows Off His Adorable T Shirt

Beyoncé rocks!  Well, according to her four-year-old nephew anyway!  Beyoncé and mom Tina took cute little Daniel Julez out shopping last week.  Daniel is the son of Beyoncé’s sister, Solange.  Daniel seems to be pretty proud in his “My Auntie Rocks!” tee shirt.  If you know an Auntie that rocks (don’t they all?!) you’ll be pleased to know that this tee shirt is a steal at only $18!  Help your toddler show his or her Auntie love!

Other cute t-shirts from Rebel Ink Baby:

Fight for Your Right to Potty Toddler Tee: $18

I will never sing that Beastie Boys song the same way again…

I Voted to Whirled Teas Tee: $18

This one will get you more than a few laughs!

    Momma: Master of Diapers:$24

    Hilarious!

I love seeing that the Knowles have Daniel wearing eye protection.  Children are particularly vulnerable the effects of UV rays from the sun.  Since the lenses in their eyes do not block as much UV radiation as adult eyes do, their risk of eye damage increases significantly.  Daniel is wearing pricey Oakley sunglasses, but you can get top of the line eye protection for your kids for much, much less. Julbo Keedz Sunglasses have smoked Spectron X5 lenses for Category 3 eye protection in strong sunlight and the spectron X5 lenses allow for 12% visual light transmission which is good for bright light.  They’re priced to fit most budgets too.

Nicole Richie and her boyfriend Joel Madden joined her dad at the memorial for Michael Jackson on Tuesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.  Nicole is expecting baby #2 late this summer.  Nicole and Joel are already parents to Harlow Winter Kate Madden, who will be 2 in January.   Nicole looked radiant in a simple black dress and tousled hair.  Her dad Lionel performed the song “Jesus is Love”.  Michael Jackson was Nicole’s godfather.

First time mommy-to-be Jennifer Hudson was absolutely glowing in a flowy white dress with an empire waist that flattered her cute round belly.  She performed the song “Will You Be There,” with a choir and the Michael Jackson tour dancers at the memorial in Los Angeles.  Jennifer is due in August.

    In other news…

Jillian Barberie Reynolds, co-host of Good Day L.A., is expecting her second child with husband Grant Reynolds.  Jillian is already Mommy to two year old Ruby Raven.  The baby was a surprise to the couple.  Jillian said: “I peed on the stick and went back 10 minutes later and it said ‘Pregnant,’ so I stuffed it in an early Father’s Day card for Grant.  Grant and I, our sex life, still goin’ strong!”

Congratulations to all of the mommies to be!

Who Should Get Custody of Michael Jackson’s Children?

Posted June 29, 2009 by molly
    Found in: Celebrity

The sudden and unexpected death of Michael Jackson brings about questions of the custody of his children.  No matter how you felt about him, the truth of the matter is that he was a dad to three children and those three children are in mourning and in need of love, comfort, and familiarity.

Debbie Rowe, who was briefly married to Michael and delivered his oldest two children, apparently never fully terminated her parental rights.  There is currently a lot of speculation about whether or not she will try and regain control of the children.

Sources close to Rowe say she plans to ask for custody of the children, and that she will collect a substantial amount of child support from Jackson’s estate.  Whoever gets custody of Jackson’s children will not automatically gain control of the children’s inheritance, however, according to legal experts.

Jackson family attorney Londell McMillan says Rowe has not contacted them about custody.

Rowe’s attorney said in a statement, “Ms. Rowe’s only thoughts at this time have been regarding the devastating loss Michael’s family has suffered.  Ms. Rowe requests that Michael’s family, and particularly the children, be spared such harmful, sensationalist speculation and that they will be able to say goodbye to their loved one in peace.”

Jackson’s third child, Prince Michael II, nicknamed Blanket, was conceived using a surrogate mother he never met.  Jackson’s wishes would be more influential in determining the custodial fate of Prince Michael II than his older siblings.

Most people would agree that Michael’s mother Katherine should raise the children.

I have two concerns about that:

    1. The children would be raised around Michael’s dad, who is a known abuser.

    2. Katherine is by all accounts an elderly lady, and may not be physically able to care of three young kids.

I’m wondering why Michael’s siblings aren’t voicing any willingness to care for his children.  I know there has been tension over the siblings over the years, but in death all of that should disappear especially for the sake of the kids.

Here’s hoping that the media frenzy dies down a little so these kids are advocated for properly.  No matter who their father was, they deserve as much privacy and respect as anybody else.
