There are many aspects of technology that make a mom’s life easier, but one that’s frequently overlooked is the printer…a really good printer. There is so much that can be done with computers today, that not having a solid photo quality printer can actually cost you money.
Coupons
You may have heard of couponing sites, where you can collect great coupons for everything from diapers to laundry detergent, but they’re not alone in their offering of savings. Many businesses have coupons on their own sites, as well as Facebook. Facebook coupons are usually pretty valuable and all you have to do is “Like” the company for an exclusive deal. Then you just print it and cha-ching, you’ve saved $2 on a $3 item.
Photos and Keepsakes
Printers nowadays can produce amazing pictures. If you want to print out 100 pictures, I’d still suggest taking them to a kiosk in a store, but if you want to print of a few amazing shots in any size you please, doing it at home will save you a ton of time and you have a lot of control. Especially if you use a free photo editing program, like Picnik.com. If your printer can scan photos and documents, then you can scan old pictures of your family and friends and make an album online.
Activities and Coloring Pages
If it starts pouring outside and you have to come up with a quick activity, you can hit the Internet for craft ideas, indoor activities and coloring pages. Once you’ve found a few things that suit your kids, you just print them out and go. There are even sites where you can enter your own word lists and it will generate crosswords, word searches and other puzzles.
Receipts and Returns
If you do a lot of shopping online, you’ve probably had your share of items that need to be returned. Many companies and online shops will pay for the postage costs if you return an item using a specific label you can print from your computer. You can also print important receipts and bank statements for your files.
Recipes
Do you like to try new recipes? Why buy whole cookbooks when you can do a simple search online and then print the recipe to keep forever? You can even copy and paste them to your word processing program, so you can size them down to fit on your recipe cards.
Homework
Helping you child with his homework gets more complicated as he gets older and, by junior high, a computer and printer is almost a necessity. Reports and projects are never-ending and a printer will make life much easier.
Lists and Charts
Organizing your back to school shopping or whipping up a chore chart is so much simpler when you have a printer. Most computers have templates available and you just fill in the blanks. Print those documents and you can take them…or put them…anywhere.
A high-quality printer can really make a mom’s life easier. Even in a world where everything seems to be digital, being able to make hard-copies of anything at a moment’s notice can be one less stress headache for mom.
