Did you know this week is Teacher Appreciation Week? I’m more than a little ashamed to admit that it totally slipped my mind until I saw another mom with a large gift bag with a giant,
gorgeous planter of begonias popping out the top this morning. DOH! The good news is, there’s still time to redeem myself. Are you on the same boat?
Here are some quick ideas to keep you from getting a timeout at the next parent-teacher meeting:
- Potted plants: Whether you like something flowery like begonia mom’s or beautiful, green and leafy, you can find fabulous plants at reasonable rates at grocery stores, home improvement shops and nurseries. For a special touch, let your little learner finger paint the pot with a personal thank you.
- Gift cards: Buy a quick gift card to a local restaurant, coffee shop, theater or store for your favorite teacher to treat him or herself to something special. Most big box and grocery stores have a wide selection for a variety of popular places near the checkout. Slap it in a charming thank you card and you’re golden.
- Gift Basket: Put together a treat basket or pamper-yourself-kit and put it in a pretty gift bag. Gift bags and baskets are always a hit.
- Picture frame with class picture: Did you snap a great shot of the the class together at a holiday program or on a fun field trip? Put a copy of your Kodak moment in a pretty frame and she’s sure to treasure such a thoughtful gift.
- Handmade card: Help your son or daughter make a card with a personal message inside. After all, how many of these did she help your little tyke make for you? The sentiment is sweet and she’ll truly appreciate it.
You have a of couple days left to earn yourself a little parenting extra credit and show your child’s teacher just how much you appreciate the hours of hard work she puts into giving your favorite student a great education.

Amazing work
