Telling your significant other that you have a little something brewing in your midsection can be just as fun as putting it there! Okay…well almost. Your man may be a little shocked, or you’re just looking for a memorable way to let him know
that life is about to change in a big way, so try jazzing up the moment with a gadget that will immediately excite him about the news .
These groovy gift ideas will get his head in the game and have him looking forward to life’s greatest journey:
1. A Camcorder: Alright, so this is just as cool for you as it is for him, but what’s wrong with letting him think it was just him you had in mind?
Why it’s useful: There are countless opportunities to make use of this fabulous gizmo, you can put it to work from the beginning of your pregnancy straight through your little one’s first day at preschool…and beyond.
2. A GPS System- When my husband asked for one of these bad-boys, I laughed at first. Then I realized that it was a real sanity saver.
Why it’s useful: During your pregnancy you can use it to map out and execute the best route to the hospital. A good GPS system will keep traffic “in mind” and get you to the maternity ward in the most efficient way possible. When baby makes three, you will quickly appreciate the fastest way to get where you’re going.
3. A Wii- Put some tarps down before you break out this glorious game system, there is serious drool potential here.
Why it’s useful: Not only can you spend hours playing a virtually endless amount of games together, but you can also use it to drop those baby pounds after Jr. joins the clan. As an added bonus, there is a LARGE variety of games that you can download, that will swing straight out of the ’80s and onto your Wii (we’re talking the original Donkey Kong, ladies), so you can give your kids an appreciation for the technology we were raised with, and how far it’s come over the years. Think of it as our version of “When I was a kid…”
4. A Smartphone- Get one for yourself, too. Your lives will be easier. It may seem like an extravagant buy at first, but, trust me; you’ll get over that lickity-split. My iPhone has become one of my best friends, and I’d be completely lost without it.
Why it’s useful: With new fabulous apps being generated every day, there is no end to how much simpler these “phones” can make your life. They have applications for all stages of your pregnancy, price comparisons for quick and efficient shopping trips, educational games for your kids (my kids – ages two and four – use my phone regularly), e-mail, movie listings, recipes, shopping lists, planners…I could go on forever. You will both LOVE having one of these phones.
5. A High-Quality Digital Camera- You’re officially in the midst of growing a living photo opp. He needs a great camera.
Why it’s useful: You can chronicle your entire pregnancy and then share your favorite photos with all of your friends and family, no matter where on Earth they may be. Then when your bundle has arrived, the sky is the limit. And another heads up: you can visit the grandparents every single weekend and it won’t be enough. You need to take lots of pictures and be able to send them regularly.
These five electronic goodies will be invaluable in the days and years to come. They aren’t just useful, but fun, too. If you gift him one of these practical luxuries when you’re telling him you’ve got a bun in the oven, he’ll never, ever forget the moment he found out he’s a daddy.
