Mother’s Day Countdown

We have a little box where we stash keepsakes of our daughter as she grows. Her ultrasound scans, her hospital anklet, and her first footprints are all occupants of this box. When a rare quiet moment settles in, my sentimentality reaches out and grabs a hold of the box for a time of reflection. Moms are sentimental by nature. We see tiny things and we are taken back to moments tucked away in our hearts. This Mother’s Day, give your mom something tangible that can reflect what she has kept in her memories.

I am fascinated by the first set of footprints that were taken of my daughter’s teensy toes. They are so itty bitty! At the same time that I am remembering holding those little footsies in my hands, I cannot believe her tootsies were ever that mini! One of my favorite gift ideas this year is a foot or handprint picture frame. The whole amazement with how much a kid grows while at the same time feeling they are always going to be our little Teensy Weensy just tickles the heart of any mom.

Moms always love anything put together with the heart and love of her children and husband. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It really is the thought that counts.

There are plenty of kits available for making these print frames. They make it very simple and supply all that is required. There are kits with ink or sets with clay. They can be done with just the kid’s prints…or show love from the whole family with everyone’s hand or footprints. Then wrap it up with a cheesy remark about how mom has left her footprints through the hearts of your lives, or how you are all better people because of her “hand”iwork.
