A New York Times article in the “Business” section this week discussed how there is a growing trend of Americans now SAVING their money vs. putting all they can on credit and getting overwhelmed by debt.
We do live in a pretty materialistic world, but hopefully you encourage your children to save their money instead of throwing it away on things they don’t necessarily need. Check out these cute & unique kids banks:
Children’s Red Locking Cash Box
Price: $11.95
I really like this bank because it is so vintage! What would be a good idea is to not give your child the combination to the lock to ensure they don’t get their sneaky little fingers on the cash.
Price: $14.95
This money jar is great because you will know exactly how much money your child has saved. The jar counts it for you & displays it digitally. Also, kids can watch as their money grows to the top of the jar!
Price: $69.99
This is the latest in kids’ banks. The future in children’s banks if you will. It is pretty much like a real ATM machine, but the only thing it doesn’t do is give you a receipt. It holds up to $999.99 which i think is great because after your child has saved that much money you can reward them with one penny and open up a CD account at your bank for them.
This bank is kind of pricey, but I think it’s a great way for your kids to learn how real ATMs work in real life.
Click here to see the less expensive version of this ATM bank. It’s only $24.99.
This bank is my FAVORITE, however I cannot for the life of me find out where I can buy it. If anyone knows please let me know. The piggy actually moves its mouth like he is actually eating your money. So cute! Check out this video from Youtube.com on how the bank works: Hungry Piggy Bank Video
This is a pretty “exciting” piggy bank for kids and seems like it would encourage kids to want to put money in the bank.
