Today on this joyous holiday, I regret to inform you that I still feel the need to bring to your attention three toys that were recalled today:

SimplyFun recalls Ribbit Board Games due to “risk of lead exposure.” This item was sold from March 2007 - October 2007. Call SimplyFun for a refund and they will give you replacement frogs. No injuries or incidences reported.
For CPSC press release click here.
Elite Operations Toys recalled by Toys R’ Us due to “violation of lead paint standard.” Sold at Toys R’ Us & toysrus.com from July 2007-October 2007. Return to store for full refund or store credit. No injuries or incidences reported.

“Ugly Teeth” Party Favors recalled by Amscan Inc. due to “violation of lead paint standard.” They were sold from January 2006-October. It seems like it might be too late for this one considering everyone already had their 2006 Halloween parties and most likely already had their 2007 party considering Halloween is during the week this year. No injuries or incidences were reported.

So, at least there were no injuries reported on all three. :) For more toy recalls click here.

Some people might hate Monopoly. Others might love having to sit there and waste time counting all their money or they love being the banker because you can “control” all that fake money. The original game can last FOREVER. You might hate the game, but it really is a timeless classic. Your children can learn a lot from it. For example, if you spend more than you have or know you are going to make…you lose.
I recently played the new Electronic Edition of Monopoly where you have only credit cards and no play money. The prices for property are a little more realistic. When I say “a little” I mean Times Square is 4M as opposed to $400 and when you pass “Go” you collect 2M instead of $200.
I have to say that it’s a much more fun and a faster game when all you need to do is punch in numbers. You can quickly glance at your balance and see if you have enough money to pay a fine or buy property.

My friend sent me the cutest non-disgusting looking Halloween recipe from KraftFoods.com today. I wanted to share it since Halloween is already two days away!
Eyeball Potion

Ingredients:
1. 1 (8 ounce) tub COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, partially thawed
2. 24 blueberries
3. 1 1/2 cups boiling water
4. 1 pkg. (8 serving size) JELL-O Brand Gelatin, any red flavor
5. Ice cubes
6. 1 cup cold water
Directions:
1. Using a melon baller or small ice cream scoop, place 2 small scoops (about 2 Tbsp. each) of whipped topping into each of 12 dessert dishes for ‘eyeballs.’ Place a blueberry in each scoop for the ‘pupil.’ Freeze 30 minutes or until firm.
2. Meanwhile, stir boiling water into gelatin in large bowl at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Add enough ice to cold water to measure 2-1/2 cups. Add to gelatin, stirring until slightly thickened. Remove any remaining ice. Spoon gelatin into prepared dishes around each eyeball, leaving the top of the eyeballs exposed.
3. Refrigerate 1-1/2 hours or until firm.
Yield: 12 servings

In a previous post I displayed PinkAxle.com’s rock n’ roll couture hats for babies. I found some rock n’ roll style maternity clothes at CryBabyMaternity.com so mommies can match their baby’s rock n’ roll style:

Has anyone heard of this new toothbrush by Tiger? I think it’s a pretty good idea. I have an electric toothbrush with a timer & I have a short attention span sometimes, but want to brush the full 2 minutes. I think this would be great for kids. They can jam out to their favorite song while brushing.
The only bad thing I can think of is that a child might get sick (and I’m sure you will too) of the same song on their toothbrush for three months. This is how long dentists recommend you keep the same toothbrush.

Bumbo Baby Sitter Seats Recalled along with seven other toys yesterday.
There were actually seven press releases for toy recalls sent out today by CPSC, but I felt that this one was the most important. There have been 28 reports of children falling out of Bumbo “Baby Sitter” Seats when placed on a table unattended. Sadly, in my opinion, these incidences were not caused by the company’s lack of warning as the label read: “WARNING” – “Never use on a raised surface. Never use as a car seat or bath seat. Designed for floor level use only. Never leave your baby unattended as the seat is not designed to be totally restrictive and may not prevent release of your baby in the event of vigorous movement.” Bumbo International of South Africa has been ordered by The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to add the following to their warning label: “WARNING – Prevent Falls; Never use on any elevated surface.”
It’s a scary thought, but I can actually see how parents might make a mistake without thinking & place their child in the seat on a table & not think anything of it, especially if they have more than one child. It seems like the bottom of the seat is flat as the table & the child will be okay, but we all know how babies can squirm around. When the injured children arched their backs they fell out of the seat to the floor. Three skull fractures were reported.
